So then…

Are you actually agreeing with DT that the Cavs rebuild is similar to what the 6ers did?

You can’t believe that.

The only similarity is the record.
It's definitely not 100% the same plan, but both were tanks. IF the Cavs were offered a haul for sexton it seems like a good chance they'd have dealt him. wont say for sure as I don't pretend to know what they might have been offered.

0-1 so far shaqdaddy.

Lol, how is that 0-1? Because a fellow cavs fan agrees with you?

I'll give you that the players on tanking teams are probably trying. What I was trying to say probably didn't come across right.

But quit with the ridiculous notion that there's no difference between what the cavs and sixers were doing.

The Cavs did not tank. Not even close.

They just plain sucked.

last year the Cavs had 22 wins and were tied for the 4th worst record in the NBA.

the year before they had 19 wins in a 66 game season and were tied for the 2nd worst record in the NBA.

the previous year they had 19 wins and were tied for 2nd worst record in the NBA

Id say thats pretty awful.

in the first 3 years of their rebuild the Sixers were

19 wins- tied for 2nd worst record in the NBA

18 wins- 3rd worst record in the NBA

10 wins- worst record in the NBA

not exactly a world of difference between 4th, 2nd, 2nd and 2nd, 3rd, 1st.

the following year Philly had 28 wins

please at least look shit up before spewing nonsense.

It's not about the wins and losses necessarily. Not outside of, you have to lose a lot to get into the lottery. It's about how each has approached it.

The Sixers seemed to be willing to move on from guys faster than the Cavs have.

If Sexton had gone to Philly during "The Process", chances are, he'd have been traded already. The Cavs chose to develop him.

If the Sixers drafted a guy and he didn't look like he was going to be what they wanted, they moved him for more assets. I don't know how bad their injuries really were, but when Philly did get players that showed them what they wanted to see, they sat them while the rest of the team lost games.

The Cavs, so far seem to be taking a more traditional, "draft your guys and develop them" approach, so they aren't going to be as quick to move on from them.

Both approaches can work and both approaches can take a long or short time. It all depends on what's available in the draft. If Mobley lives up to his billing, Sexton and Garland continue to develop and the Cavs do well in the next couple of drafts and FA periods, their rebuild may only have a couple of years left. Odds are that something won't work as well as hoped, which could add more time...but right now, the Cavs appear to be in a pretty solid spot as far as their rebuild.

Oh, "you'll give me"? Never mind a non Cavs fan also said you were way off base. Would be one thing to say it once. But you said it over and over and it wasn't that you said it wrong. You just were wrong.

Most ridiculous notion in this thread is easily that players are not trying on the court.

I don't really disagree, but it's possible the Cavs do think sexton is what they want and/or could not get what they wanted in return. Perhaps if they drafted Knox they move on quicker?

I've thought for a while this season was their last shot to find an elite piece as I didn't think they'd be bad enough to get another pick near the top. Can only hope they found such a guy in Mobley. Is it enough to make them relevant? I have my doubts but we'll find out in 2-3 years.

Oh, the irony based on those comments you made asking if I understood what tanking was.

In a way I was not right. Well, I was in the sense that most here agree with me that guys on the court are trying. But I was wrong that you'd own you were wrong. Didn't think you would.

Bravo.

You cared enough to reply. Most seem to either have replied and answered or just not replied. I'd do the latter if I didn't care.
No you wouldn’t, you would post 13 pages of meaningless bullshit, then pick some childish thing out and claim victory. Everyone knows your routine.

So you went with the "Going to be a dick" option.

What a surprise.

Absolutely correct. That was the point, I (badly) tried to make. Should have worded it better, which you just did.
I actually worded it kind of the same trying to help you but you still didn't believe me.....

post 4830 - "I know what tanking is and it exists. But it doesn't mean the actual players on the court are not trying. Teams might put bad players on the court...but they are trying."

I'm glad you see this as a monumental win.

Plenty of posts/topics for which I have no interest. I'm able to stay away.
