I dont know if I would be in minority here, but I would love a Carlos Correa signing.
Jerry essentially crossed him off the list the day after the season ended when he said JP is the SS

Yeah I'm not really sure on the Kyle Lewis thing but perhaps you might be right regarding Lewis. I think he has had 2 or 3 knee related issues while he's been in the organization and as a high caliber athlete, perhaps he's frustrated and thinking that the medical staff is the problem as it's not common to have that many significant knee injuries. He may be dealing with it from the perspective that "it's not me, it's the medical staff," which I suppose would be the way many would cope with the situation. Who knows?

That's a fair counter offer with Story and I know I'm beating a dead horse, but I have to assume that MLB front offices have the same reservations that I do, which is why he hadn't signed before the stoppage. I think in the end, Story will probably settle for a deal similar to what you proposed.

I still think our best route to solving our 3B/LF problem is Kris Bryant. Doesn't cost us prospects and he can play 3rd, 1st and LF competently. Dipoto emphasized versatility and Bryant has that. Kris Bryant is the one guy I would overpay for in a second and I feel if we sign him and make a few other moves, the offseason would be a success.
No idea with Lewis. I haven’t ever had any issues with surgeries. As you said he has had multiple surgeries and they all have been under the Mariners umbrella. Or maybe he thinks they rushed him back? Who knows, it is the only thing I could think of if they are saying there isn’t a timetable. Every surgery I’ve had or have heard of they’ve given me a timetable within a month at the longest and then it becomes flexible with a set backs or whatever. Or maybe it is on the Mariners side on thinking Kyle isn’t recovering as quick as they want and it is a shot across the bow for him. No idea, it just very strange.

Bryant is the number 1 guy and has been my number 1 guy. It is just if he is going to price himself out of Jerry’s range….which there shouldn’t be. I think Story would be a plan B but the Frazier move kind of seems like Jerry is on plan B at least with 2B so probably with 3B too. I know I am redundant but I really really want them to figure out 3B so there is as least the option of dangling Marte for a big trade. With how “stacked” the farm system is it would be nice if they break camp and they don’t have any untouchables in the system assuming Julio breaks camp.

mlb trade rumars....
the offseason to the likes of Kris Bryant, Seiya Suzuki, Trevor Story and the since-signed Javier Báez (Tigers) and Marcus Semien (Rangers). Though Seattle has already acquired left-handed-hitting infielder/outfielder Adam Frazier in a deal with the Padres, president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto figures to come out of the lockout intent on further deepening his lineup.

MLB Network’s Jon Heyman indicated recently on his Big Time Baseball podcast that Seattle indeed made an offer to Story prior to the

lockout — presumably with the idea that Story would move off of shortstop in deference to incumbent J.P. Crawford. Dipoto plainly stated earlier in the winter that the organization’s plan was to keep Crawford at that position, and reports since that time suggested the team’s interest in Story would likely be predicated on a move to second base.

my 2 cents....some say story arm is not what it once..was...ok no prob..2B...and ss..are waiting..on the mariners...yes...he would be back up ss guy..with moore backing him up....if they dont trade him..

but those guys are obiuos..jerrys fav guys as well...cuz they on the list....

by Christopher O'Day @MarinersLifer
There isn’t a lot going on in baseball right now. We can throw out proposals, talk about the lockout, and dream about baseball coming back. There’s also one other thing that is a bit more tangible and realistic than the rest. Talking about the upcoming class of new major leaguers in the 2022 draft, and examining related mock drafts whenever they happen. Prospects Live just came out with their 1.0 Mock draft, and they have the Mariners selecting Jackson Ferris with the 21st pick.

Mariners – 1/21 – Jackson Ferris, LHP, IMG Academy

For quite a while, the Mariners took college players and had a nice run of college arms. They bucked the trend last year when they took the incredibly athletic Harry Ford in the first round with the 12th pick overall, a high schooler who can play catcher, second, or even outfield.

So, what does Jackson Ferris bring? It sounds like he has greatly increased his fastball velocity from 2020 to 2021. In 2020, he was sitting high 80s, and would occasionally touch into the low 90s. After improving his base and core strength, he now sits in the low 90s and can tough 96. That’s a massive jump, and you have to imagine that there is still some room for him to improve once he gets into a major league system.
A lanky lefty, he currently sits around 6’4″ and 190 lbs. You’d think he would be a bit wild (as is common with hard-throwing and lanky players looking to generate extra velocity), but he is actually pretty accurate with a very repeatable delivery. It’s his secondary and tertiary pitches that he needs to work on, as the consistency can be a bit tough.
It is something that he has improved on, as he had a big tell on his curve in 2020, which seems to be something he has been working on and eliminating through 2021 and into 2022. The curve is a plus pitch, with a hard late break that can be difficult to pick up. He throws a change as well, but it needs work.
Just from reading about him, I’m sure you can get a picture in your head of what he is like. He’s got a loose delivery, and it seems fairly smooth without over-exuding effort. The delivery actually looks like a mix of Tim Lincecum and Madison Bumgarner, according to a 2020 article from Prospects Live.
Much like Lincicum, Ferris has an elite extension, which comes from the energy created in the high leg kick, and a stellar, albeit non explosive drive (this creates the desired low vaa fastball). As he enters his drive, he stays extremely closed off (front side), which visually looks like a fusion of Lincicum and a Bumgarner’s deliveries (slow collected stride of Mad Bum, kick/gather/extension Lincicum)

im all..about joe doyle...and prospects live....and even a LHP....but before....we go with...any one guy....

lets make a mariners...draft srtategy...so we know...who they need.....then..we can go with who...they want..

and..who..they need and want..could run into one in the same.......or 2 or 3 of the same......

to do that...deturmine..the mariners need....you need to know who they have right now...

i will do this...it takes...a while..an hour or 2...and put it on sports SportsHoopla..but i may have already...on ulmax..mariners draft..2022

ihave not posted there in a while....but i still have time...

keep up with joe doyle....he is on it..
