Yes but I think you would agree that teammates, coaching staff and organization all matter for the development of players. Additionally there are different expectations of what the responsibilities of players too.

Again, I'm not talking about him becoming an all-star. I'm talking about being a good player and not a stat padder. There's a difference. In Minnesota he averaged over 20 ppg a year for his career. But he was/is not considered a good player. He has the potential to become that good player here because what is required of him is less than what was required of him being a former #1 pick who was given a large extension. Now he's just another cog in the wheel. His responsibilities are different. His focus and attention to his game can shift.

The key question is WILL it shift. And that's a more than reasonable take for anyone to think he will not. However there is no better place in the NBA for Wiggins to be able to become the player he was thought to be than with this organization.
but have to think other coaches have asked him to pay more attention to D and not take dumb shots. Not sure no better place than GS but I wouldn't rule it out he can figure it out. Just wouldn't bet on it.

Curry, Klay and Wiggins alone add up to almost 100M.

i will guarantee you they do not add significant payroll.

most i can see is they "splurge" on the mini-mid level exception.

i have to say it is a little entertaining seeing the Warriors fans try and talk themselves into the "untapped potential" of Andrew Wiggins.

I think the trade exception is still in play, provided that they are taking back:

1) short term contract
2) assets attached to contract

I think at this point it makes sense to try to build up some additional assets while they can, especially if they can secure another top pick in next years draft.

I'd be fielding calls from teams looking to shed some cap space to have financial relief and see how desperate they are.

And that's absolutely fair to not want to bet on it. I probably wouldn't myself if I absolutely had to. But at this point it's worth rolling the dice. That's all I'm saying.

They have a 17 million exception they can use to make a trade. They got it from Iggy.

The Warriors are into the Luxury tax. This was something that could put the Warriors over the top in terms of trying to compete for a championship this season. Bob Myers said he was given the green light by ownership to use it, but that context has now changed.

We got a title most of us never thought we'd see so not that sad. Is what it is in this market. Have some extreme lottery luck like they did and can be a title contender. Have a bottom 1-2 finish and pick 5th (or get the 8th pick because Brooklyn has no need to tank like everyone else near bottom) it's much less likely.

Afraid possible best we can hope for might be to be an Indiana type team and be solid for a while without much of a shot at a title.
Yes I know all that I'm trying to troll Wiggy back here

They have come out and said that they have the green light to use it now.

Plus they could have DPE and the MLE.

they can still make a go of it.

Really like bringing back Justin Holliday.

Guys like avery bradley could be in play too.

Way to kick us while we're down...lol.
It's what he does. The dude has never been right about anything but he never misses a chance to rub in the misfortune of his hated teams. That's why I nailed it when I said this injury would bring him back

Exactly. They have to play the cards they're dealt. They had some luck getting their rings, now they are dealing with some bad luck.

yah im well aware i am saying they wont use it because when you factor in luxury tax it will became insanely expensive. Its why i said i would AT MOST expect them to dip their toe into MMLE market

My pipe dream for this is if Joe Harris doesn't see an offer he likes and decides to take a one year flier to build up stock with the Warriors.

I heard a rumor the Nets are going to fork it up for Harris that could be in the $15-18/year. Little surprised it was that high but then again Parson got a shit ton and he is the same type of player imo. But I'm also sure the Hawks will try to lure him...the Hawks seem to be going after everyone.

I was right about Klay's best days being behind him. And i mean....the number of games he played in that 5 season stretch were just crazy. Multiple deep playoff runs every single year. Its like he played more than an extra season of games when compared to the acerage player.

That is likely a reason why some of these guys are just getting hurt.

Combine that with an irregular offseason, being tentative because of a very serious knee injury, and while its surprising, i cant say that I am just utterly shocked that a guy on the wrong side of 30, just beginning workouts after a unusually long layoff because of covid (usually they would be 3 weeks into games by now), and of course coming off major knee surgery (and it wasnt like it was a clean out of some cartilage--- the saying in the NBA goes that there is no such thing as "minor" knee surgery in an NBA player- and this was definitely not anything close to "minor" knee surgery that Klay had). He tore his ACL thats major.

you start compensating...you start working out after a long layoff....you have a ton of miles on your legs over a 5 season span- more games than just about any other team in NBA history over a 5 year span......your over 30....

surprised- but not shocked. Definitely disappointed though.

Not even right about that yet, we don't know how he's gonna look.

But you don't get any points for predicting an aging player coming off a big injury will not be getting better.
