Big Ten Announces 2020 and 2021 Conference Schedules

Nebraska will open the 2020 football season with a Big Ten Conference game against Purdue at Memorial Stadium. That game was one of the highlights of the 2020 and 2021 Big Ten football schedules announced by the league office on Tuesday.

The Huskers’ matchup with Purdue on Sept. 5, 2020, will mark the first time Nebraska will open a season with a conference game since playing host to Oklahoma State to open the 2003 campaign.

In addition to opening the 2020 season against Purdue, Nebraska will play host to Illinois (Oct. 10), Penn State (Nov. 7) and Minnesota (Nov. 28) at Memorial Stadium. The Huskers will play road games at Northwestern (Oct. 3), Rutgers (Oct. 24), Ohio State (Oct. 31), Iowa (Nov. 14) and Wisconsin (Nov. 21).

Nebraska will play five Big Ten Conference home games in 2021, playing host to Ohio State (Oct. 2), Northwestern (Oct. 9), Michigan (Oct. 30), Iowa (Nov. 6) and Wisconsin (Nov. 20). The Huskers’ four conference road games in 2021 include trips to Michigan State (Sept. 25), Purdue (Oct. 16), Illinois (Nov. 13) and Minnesota (Nov. 27).

I'm all for tough games as long as the Huskers are competitive in them. Bring 'em on.
It's like Tom Osborne said...A lot of people hated Oklahoma, but they made us better.

Eh that has to be taken with a grain of salt. There wasn't nearly so much parity back then. We had tier 1 opponent Oklahoma, tier 2 opponent of whoever stepped up that year between CU, MU, KSU, etc., and then everyone else.

What, TO's statement? :L

You weren't even born or you were shitting in diapers for the vast majority of that time.
Nebraska is now the Missouri's, Colorado's, Okie lites, of the Devaney/Osborne era. Nebraska is now the one getting blown out by the Alabama's, Ohio St's, USC's, etc. There are still elite programs and Nebraska hasn't been one for 15 years.
The sooner you realize that, the sooner you'll quit pimping Minnesota, Northwestern, type mediocrity as some kind of modern norm.

"Awe shucks, we lost to Minnesota. But only by 4."
"That's alright. Today's parity en sech"

I'm not saying anything about Minnesota or Northwestern. Do you think playing modern day OU, Wisconsin, Michigan and OSU is easier or harder than our Big 8 schedule?

What you don't get is HOW you're playing those teams and HOW you're playing McNeese St.

When you do 'GET IT' you'll stop making excuses for the sugar-free Kool-Aid you serve. You'll stop accepting that as the norm.

What about me saying that us playing 4 good to great teams per year is less beneficial than playing 1 good to great team per year is pouring Kool Aid?

You're pouring Kool-Aid by using 'parity' as an excuse for mediocrity.

You said TO's statement about playing Oklahoma making us better should be taken with "a grain of salt".

I want to play those better teams win some/lose some as long as the Huskers are competitive. It will make Nebraska better and go a long way with recruiting and overall confidence in the players.

You're more than welcome getting a boner in barely beating or occasionally losing to FCS, Mid-Major, or (6-6), (7-5), or (8-4) P5 teams.

You lead one to believe that you're scared of those schedules. That you have some appetite for cupcakes.

I say bring 'em on. Let's have the best of the Big 10 on our schedule every year.

Winning is more important than who we play. What would have a better long-term impact on the program...1. being able to win 9-10-11 games a year with a chance to beat a top dog and have a special season, or 2. winning 7-8-9 games and missing out on Indy every year because Iowa and Wisconsin have cake crossover games most years? That's not being scared, it's being realistic. Scenario 1 above is closer to NU in the Big 8 days than Scenario 2.

OMG "but Wisconsin has an easier schedule" is fucking lame.

Got news for you. Of the 4 programs you mentioned, "OU, Wisconsin, Michigan, OSU", only two could be considered current elite CFP programs. Only two have been in considereation, played for, or won BCS or CFP games since 1997.
That would be OU and OSU. Oklahoma isn't even in the Big 10, so it was disingenuous for you to even put them in there.
Through that time Wisconsin has been typically another 3 loss or more team. Their 1 loss season (2006) they didn't play Ohio St.
Also through that time Michigan has been typically a 3 loss or more program.

Wisconsin and Michigan are not elite programs.

Me thinks you watch way more espn than you do thinking for yourself. Nebraska needs to get back to elite. The rest will take care of itself.

Booo fucking hoo. Wisconsin schedule. Beat them or STFU. :L

The Wisconsin precieved easy schedule is subjective, it's easy for Wisconsin sure, they're not us, if we played the same teams we would still be looking at 3-4 losses, and if they played ours I don't see any game that would be a sure loss

This whole argument started because I said that your use of TOs quote to justify lining up a difficult schedule doesn't make sense. Losing does not help get Nebraska back to elite. We rarely played this difficult of a schedule when we were elite. Claiming otherwise is the CFB equivalent of talking about walking to school uphill both ways in a blizzard back in the day.
