Agree, but then it makes little sense for George to say Lakers didnt try hard enough to trade for him, if the prudent move was to save the assets to play with him.

So, logical thinking is, he really didnt want to come because he could have.
i mean, i dont understand what the argument is. The Lakers are supposedly this storied franchise everyone wants to play for--- and supposedly everyone wants to play with LeBron.

LeBorn has actively recruited PG, Kawhi, Butler, and Kyrie- that we 100% KNOW of, and I would guess there are many more behind the scenees that we would never hear of----

The Lakers have had max cap space the last 2 years to sign a guy and no one has come.

Everyone can come to their own conclusions why.

And then he asked to leave a year later.

You don’t think LeBron will be crucified if AD leaves before LeBron does?
Did he ask, or was he approached by his team after LAC approached OKC.

Yep. I think the Lakers defense is going to be very avg at best right now. Not a lot of solid defenders. Vogel will have to work his magic to say the least.

Avery Bradley and JaMychal Green would be solid options, but not ideal. Now, Iguodala would be perfect, just need to convince the Grizz to waive him.

Maybe he thought they could win after 1 year.

After 2, he realized everyone else in the west was getting better and OKC had no tangible means of catching up.

Honestly, I'm not buying it only because they made basically no roster moves from year 1 of PG to year 2.

Maybe he thought they could win a round or 2 but I can't see him honestly thinking they could win it all considering they did almost nothing last summer and also no Robertson.

Every report I saw said PG asked to be traded.

Whether he first contracted Kawhi or Kawhi contacted him, I don’t know.

I think PG only stayed in OKC because of their hard recruitment. Westbrook threw a huge party for him on the eve of free agency if I remember correctly. He couldn't know that Lebron was going to LA, as that took several days to be announced. PG agreed before free agency even officially started.

I thought it was pretty shortsighted on his part. But so was re-signing with OKC 30 seconds into FA.

These guys get into their feelings over all kind of shit. If PG felt like the Lakers didn't want him bad enough, that could be the reason.

People want to put it on Lebron, but Lebron wasn't there yet and PG said what he said.

True LeBron wasnt there originally.

We’ll never know for sure, but my best guess is that James talked to him at some point before last years FA period.

You forgot the fact that PG said the Lakers not trying hard enough to trade for him was the reason he didn't join them.

Like Wiggy, you have speculation. I have what PG actually said.
Can we take this to mean you will now believe everything a player says?

He for sure could have known.
You dont think James tried to recruit him, or at least talked with him before FA last summer.

You think LeBron was actually considering any other team?

LeBron loves the attention and his name scrolling across ESPN.

He could have announced July 1 every time he made a move if he chose to, because his choice was already made.

Yep and considering Lebron agreed to joined the Lakers on 7/1. You have to think (just like with Kyrie and KD) that he knew he was going to the Lakers long before FA began on 7/1 last year.

"couldn't know"

Not possible Lebron could have told him?

Could have. Certainly not a given though. We could argue could haves all day long and get nowhere. Nothing was concrete.
