As far as messing up current agreements, couldn't the Pelicans just agree to postpone the trade date? With all that they're getting back in the trade, they have as much interest as anyone to still do the trade even if it doesn't get done by July 6th.

Good point. LOL. They pretty much have the Lakers over a barrel. If the Lakers feel like they still have a chance at Kawhi, they will feel like they have to do that.

It's not just the Pels though. They've traded away some of those pieces they are getting from the Lakers and also dealt with other teams as well. So its really like 5 or 6 teams that are waiting on this. It might not be a problem if they have to wait one more day, maybe two. But if this keeps going into Monday and beyond, they aren't gonna want to wait around. Nor should they. A lot of those pieces involved in these trades are guys that could be in SL right now
