Brogdon and Warren?

Fast, switchable and good defensively......Pacers are gonna be tough to handle defensively.

I prefer Brogdon at the 2 honestly (while Oladipo is out, of course). That may be where McConnell comes in. Though TBH I would have prefered to sign a lesser guy like a Shelvin Mack, that way Aaron Holiday could have gotten his 25 minutes a night at the point to see what he could do.

almost to the point of saying if he does, he does....

ready to move on...

I know. We all just want to move on with our lives already. C'mon, Kawhi! Announce a decision already.

I think the exact opposite.

The casual fan would want to see the perpetual 40-45 win roster.

The educated, invested fan would want their team to try and do more than that. Which Philly clearly has.

And to be perfectly honest, I don’t think Laker and Heat fans can fully grasp this because it does not apply to your team. You don’t have to bottom out to rebuild. You just need competent management and cap space. Sometimes, you don’t even need the latter.

Teams like The Wizards have to bottom out. And they never do.

That is why our best season in 40 years is 50 wins and the second round of the playoffs.
Nailed it and it works for NFL, as well.......though FAs in NFL don't care as much about market.

Browns are proof. Had so many GMs afraid to do a complete teardown/rebuild. Continued to sign the Donte Whitners of the world so they could win 3-5 games as opposed to what needed to be done. Was it really worth losing out on Andrew Luck so they could win 3-4 games as opposed to 1-2?

I would hope no Browns fan would trade Baker and Garrett to add 3-5 wins to the 1-31 seasons.

No guarantee either way.
Its not like teams discount season tickets when they suck.
If anything, you’d stop buying season tickets and buy much cheaper on stub hub.
Of course there is no guarantee but what seems most logical? Hell, your team has the advantage of south beach and cannot get beyond middling team now 6 years in after Lebron left.

As a reason? Maybe 1 or 2 more seasons. It had far reaching effects because Bosh continued to count against their cap and some of the contracts were longer because they were still trying to compete.

I'm not saying they haven't made mistakes either. But even with moves that turned out to be mistakes, you could understand the reasoning at the time.

For example, signing Whiteside for what they did. At the time they did it, there were other teams offering him max money as well. So, while in hindsight it was a mistake, you can see why they did it.
Agreed.....and you can see why tanking is a better way to go. They could have had high picks as opposed to being in the teens (and Miami does draft pretty well) and had the cap room to just sign Butler and not give up a solid player and a pick to get him.

Lol just saw suns traded Josh Jackson.

More evidence having multiple top 5 picks guarantees nothing

That's the point....you didn't have the cap because you kept using on middling players to win 35-45 games. So you got draft picks in the teens as opposed to high picks AND had no cap space.

We didn't have the cap space, because for 2 years we were dealing with Bosh's blood clots. And then we had to wait another year to get him off of our salary cap in the first 3 years. And again, I'd rather field a competitive team then one that purposefully tanks. Riley hasn't once taken a tank approach in his time in Miami and it's resulted in one of the most respected franchises and 3 titles. And everyone keeps glossing this over, but why are teams like the Kings and Suns in such bad shape since they get top 10 pick every year? I mean, based on tanking (or in some cases just sucking), why are those teams so bad? I mean, Phoenix just literally traded Josh Jackson to Memphis, and he was the #4 pick two years ago.

The Suns have sucked for as long as I could remember, yet they get nowhere. So what faith do I have as a fan that going down that route is best? It is possible to simply remain an attractive destination for players to want to go to.

Philly hasn't won a title since the 80's. OKC has never won a title in their history. Cavs have finally won a title where they were middling around until arguably the greatest player of all-time came back to finally help them win. If Lebron wasn't from Cleveland, he probably doesn't come back to Cleveland and you're probably without a title. OKC wasn't purposefully sticking in the lottery, because they just plain sucked.
No, they were rarely middling around. Especially not recently. Title contender in the late 80s and into the 90s. MJ guy was in their way, though.

Recent years with no Lebron they were tanking.

Man, you can just literally bet on anything these days. I think there was even a line for who would wind up on the Iron Throne.
