No he wasn’t. He was incredibly valuable especially in the playoffs. I mean he was worth every bit of his salary in just the playoffs this past season. Did you not (objectively) watch any of his play?

He’s going to be incredibly valuable to a contender this year.
I don't think the Warriors will be nearly as good with their new line up without him and if they lose Danny Green as well, they might even struggle. D'angelo Russell is a good point guard, but Kevin Durant is far better - that was a downsizing event and with Klay Thompson out - this year may be awash for the Warriors

Pretty happy with the Sixers day, assuming that the Bulter-Richardson deal goes through.

I think Richardson might be a better fit for the Sixers than Butler.

without a doubt. he is exactly the kind of guy you need....a 4th/5th option, solid defender, young, happy with his role, and seems like a good teammate.

While Butler is on to his 4th team in 5 years, is 30 years old with a ton of miles on him and is a pain in the ass pretty much wherever he goes.

when the Sixers played their game- Butler was not even that important--- when the Sixers struggled, Butler went into overload iso mode.

most of the games the Sixers played their best Butler was taking a back seat

i thought it was clear from the beginning that Durant went to GSW to get the monkey off his back, get a couple titles and would then move on. He couldnt stand hearing "best player in the NBA without a title", broke down because he knew he couldnt do it without going to a ready-made title team. He got his titles and is moving on and going back to his career.

For me its about losing the chemistry - but with Klay Thompson out - they will struggle any way - they might be better off tanking and getting a good draft pick - Next season, however they will have Russell-Thompson-Curry - That's still a good team - it's just not the super team guaranteed to go to the finals

Wiggy doesn't do objective. Lost a lot of respect for him in this thread, thought he understood cap economics better than he clearly does(n't)

Respect for the Tropic Thunder reference

But no, you went down a couple notches. Do you really not get why they dealt Iggy?

I don't think Iggy plays a game for Memphis.

So I'm seeing that the Heat/Dallas deal to unload pieces necessary for the Heat to get Butler from Philly has completely fell apart. So right now, Butler to Miami is in limbo until Miami can find somewhere to offload salary

I suspect that it will get done, one way or another.

That was a pretty easy one - I think he was getting 17 million and they are getting Russell for 31 million or something like that - Just do the math - KD is gone, Thompson will be out most of the season - so they will have Russell and Curry for the time being

I assume that Russell will play the guard next to Curry- Technically both are point guards

yah....much like the Warriors situation, in order to do a sign and trade you cant go over the hard cap which is like 6 million or something over the tax apron, so both GSW and MIA have to get under the "hard cap" level to execute the S&T...which is one reason why sign and trades rarely if ever happen anymore...if the team had cap room they would just sign, if they dont have cap room and are over, they get hard capped- their is a sliver of an area in between where it works.

It's not about the talent, they literally HAD TO get under the hard cap to bring in D'Angelo. Just like Miami has to to bring in Butler. I thought Wiggy was the type to understand this stuff, kind of a shame. Now he's bouncing around like a Tijuana crack whore about some dumbass shit in his mind.

Notice when those picks they gave up happen? Right when the Curry and Klay deals end. So they are going to try to keep the dynasty going for the next 5 years, luxury tax be damned. Then in 5 years when those guys are done, then it's over.

Will they succeed? Of course no one knows. But they are totally working it with plan B after KD said no. They knew this was likely and planned accordingly. They may flip DLo now who knows.
