Rutherford's going to have to play things awful tight with the trade deadline that is looming... I'd say within a 48-72 hour window, maybe less, they will have to make that decision with assessing their defense moving forward. They know Marino & Dumoulin will be back, but when... Hard to say right now.

Yeah they will fall hard if they have to keep the Letang/Johnson pairing, those two together are brutal.
Pettersson looked comfortable with Marino and Dumoulin kept Letang in check.
If/when they could revolve Shultz, Ruhwedal, Johnson and Riikola as your bottom two, they were strong.

Not sure what they do now unless they swap Riikola for someone but for enough quality at the low cost isn't easy to come by.
Also, they are screwed with Galchenyuk for the season and can't even use him as a chip.

I agree he will be good and truthfully GMJR is in the win now mode and the pick/Addison won't help that.

Kind of bummed to see Addison go though. He may very well turn out to be a hell of a puck moving defenseman for a long time, but Zucker is an excellent get. He's the winger they need right now & there's likely not going to be a duo as talented as Crosby/Malkin in PIT again for a long time so might as well maximize their remaining years. But if Guentzel was healthy this trade wouldn't have happened.
