That's my point. Is this how we handle viruses from now on? If not, why not?

And that is my point.

This virus is unique. No reason to assume that. Like I said, this is a once in a lifetime situation.

Just do the math when you see it on the news. The other day it was 40 some deaths to 1200 cases. That's 3%. Now its 60 to 3000, which is 2%
Exactly, and when it's said and done it will be under 1%, all old people. No bueno but far fewer deaths than happen every year from flu.

Corona unofficially made it to my job

Someone in my building had it. It's plausible that half of the country will get it, most not even knowing they have it.

Look at the NBA players with it, they aren't even sick.

We'll see. I don't like how hysterical the media and many people are.

It isn't all old people

Almost entirely. Old and those with compromised immune systems. Basically the same as the 50,000 who die every year in just the US from the regular flu.

Did the NBA void George's contract while I was sleeping?

If the Season gets cancelled, Clippers will be in a bind.

Trezl, Morris, Jackson will be unrestricted.

We can pay the first 2. But, no chance we keep Jackson seeing as though we are over the cap and can only offer the minimum.

Morris is easier. Because the Knicks gave him 15 mil, we can offer 125% of that as his starting salary.

Jackson isn't playing for 3 mil.

I'd like to think that the NBA will do something to address that, although I don't know what.

Maybe a 1 year "forgiveness" on the luxury tax or something? :noidea:

If they at least have the playoffs, then maybe go "business as usual". But if the season were to be cancelled, then I'd think they'd address it.

The reason it gets under is because more resources are allocated. The flu is so low because we've had years and years of studying it and how to combat it. If this virus is left unchecked, the number remains or potentially grows (see Italy, which basically had a "no big deal" attitude until they ended up with far more infected than they could handle). That's why all these precautions are being taken.

I understand, and I do get it. But I fear this will become the norm every few years.

It's become a self fulfilling prophecy.

There aren't shortages because so many people are sick that goods can't get produced or delivered to stores.

It's because of the panic buying.

People have literally created the very shortages that they were afraid of.

I hope you are right.
He's not.

We have no idea how this will end.

Long-term effects, infected vs being a carier, how it affects those pregnant etc, etc, etc....

Panic shopping, stupid.

Taking this pandemic lightly, stupider.
