Yep I can't even blame him there was zero D. Truly embarrassing effort from everyone. Therien was absolutely dead on how can you not be up for the penqueens especially after losing to the Islanders. Malkin out and they have a bunch of no names producing meanwhile Flyers first round picks can't stand up. Sanheim was playing ok and looked like he should be in the echl. Rant over I'll let Las trade them all I give up...
Im just glad Braun is bringing that veteran leadership to these young kids and it was totally worth it to trade a second and third round pick for him.

The softness wasn't a factor, actually thought they were decently physical last night. They just looked totally mesmerized by the puck. And it wasn't just the dmen, the forwards were atrocious too. The Pens had not just 1, but 2 open guys every time they were in the offensive zone. How does that happen?
Hagg and Nisky brought their physical game last night but the most physical part was when Braun hit Tanev/Reese with his purse last night

I don't think we can say the bold with absolute certainty. Maybe some of them have, maybe some of them haven't. Braun and Niskanen certainly 'are what they are'.

Hagg is 24, 163gp
Ghost is 26, 309gp
Provorov is 22, 257gp
Sanheim is 23, 142gp

The more I watch Ghost this season, the more it seems like 17-18 was an outlier and what he really is, is a 35-45 point PP QB that struggles in the defensive zone. I wouldn't really classify him as young anymore either. He's 26 and has 309 games of experience, of which the mediocre out number the great.

Hagg, I just don't think he has a super high ceiling. Maybe he gets a little better than he is now, but I don't see him as a top 4 option.

Provorov is still very young at 22 and he's still played more great games than mediocre ones. I'm not giving up on his potential to be a top pair guy.

Sanheim is also still young and has relatively little experience. Again, more great games than mediocre ones. At least IMO.

Myers is still down on the farm and he could bring some potential, only 21gp and just 22 years old.
Wow how far Ghost has fallen on your list since you defended him all last season and this summer as a 60-70 defenseman who we would regret trading as those types of defenseman a far and few in between.

Even when we had 4 or 5 skaters right in front of our net defending, there would be 2 Penguins to cover with at least one left wide open....Rofl

I'm just shocked by the complete lack of coverage in the high danger areas of our defensive zone. You've got guys skating around, covering nobody...

And yes, this was an enormous game. There's absolutely zero excuse.

Actually, the first goal against upon further review appeared to be tipped very slightly by Rust and could've been disallowed due to a high stick. That said, we had two defenders in front and nobody is really covering him.

On the second goal against, McCann is all alone in front of the net to shovel the puck home while three of our skaters are near him, but none close enough to check him. In fact, all five of our skaters were near the net on this goal and still couldn't cover three Penguins.

Simon is wide open in the slot to receive a pass from Criesby while two of our defenders (Farabee and Braun) reach with their sticks, but are again not close enough to check him on the 3rd goal against.

On the 4th goal against, an unguarded Simon passes cross-ice to an unguarded Criesby for the easy goal from the angle while two Flyers occupy one Penguin in front, nobody covering the pass or the shot.

Jake Guentzel finds himself all alone in front of a sprawling Elliott to ram home a rebound on the 5th goal against. Two more Flyers arrive soon after the goal is scored.

On the 6th goal against, everyone is seemingly covered, but on a double screen, Aston-Reese has his stick free and tips the puck home for a deflection goal just over the blocker of Elliott.

To add insult to injury, Sanheim turns the puck over behind our net in garbage time only for Hagg and Vorobyev to watch Hornqvist sift a pass to a wide open Kahun in the slot for goal #7 and the icing on the cake.

This was one of the worst defense zone coverage games for one team that I have ever seen, perhaps in my lifetime.

I will agree with all of the above.

I hate it for the kid, but Sanheim had a dreadful game and was routinely victimized for his mistakes. That and Hagg might be too slow for the Nhl if his positioning isn't any better or he's not more alert.

Sanheim has had a dreadful several games in a row as well as the rest of the dmen.

I dont know if Prov would be considered a number one dman on any other team but ours but having a way better year than last season

Ghost well you can see for yourself how bad he has been.

Braun just as bad as everyone else and we traded two high picks for him and took on his 3.8 million salary. SMH

Nisky has been decent but certainly not a great defenseman

Hagg is what he is a 6/7 dman that hits and plays rough and tumble.

He's fallen, there's no question. We're just not seeing that bounce back that I was counting on. I'm still holding out hope, because the highest value for Ghost isn't going to come from trading him, it comes from him reverting back to that 60-70 point player. I firmly believe that. And if he's done it before, he can do it again. I just don't see signs of it right now.

If you look to make a trade, you're trading low on an asset. Maybe he never reverts to that 60-70 point form, but if he does, I guarantee you whatever trade we make will look terrible. If he doesn't, then obviously it will look like a good deal, but I still doubt you're getting a major difference maker for him. You're probably looking at a 4-5 dman, or a bottom 6 forward. I don't think Fletcher has any interest in dealing for draft picks at this point, which reduces the number of teams interested.

Stewart needs to either play defense or provide some kind of energy out there too or he can be a severe liability against the top two lines of any other team. It happened last night even when he only played 10 minutes. Wtf is he doing out there against Criesby!?

Gostisbehere actually had the best statistical game among our defenseman with 1 assist and +/- of 0. I like him a lot when he is using those quick bursts of speed in all zones to either get out of trouble or get a clear shot on net.

His main concern is 3 main concerns lol.

That and it's sort of an incomplete, run-on sentence. I guess he means that we rely too much on Provorov defensively and are in desperate need of two-way depth down the middle.

I noticed that too. 9:57 played, on the ice for 4 goals against. You think the Pens, with their last change advantage, didn't exploit the fact that he couldn't keep up? They scored on almost 25% of his shifts.

You cannot have guys in the NHL that cannot keep up with the play. Good teams will exploit it over and over and over and over and over and over again.
