I include Klay as a potential option, but not a good one really. I did also say whomever, as we don't really know who will shake loose and be available via trades, etc.

It could just come down to a numbers game. If Durant stays, there will be decisions to be made in terms of keeping Klay next summer and Dray the following summer with max deals. The Warriors can't continue to max out every free agent as they come along. Dray already said he wasn't taking a discount. Will Klay? Will it be enough to make much of a difference? Once those luxury repeater fines start, they escalate QUICKLY.

That said, I think Durant moves on to start his own super team somewhere, so that would open up luxury tax space to retain Klay. Of course, they could decide to save that for Dray instead.
Well Klay has already gone on the record saying he will take a pay cut. So there's no guess work on that front.

If it ain't broke why fix it? Meaning, KD has been signing 1+1 deals to allow the team to work out other contracts & also for his own flexibility. It has resulted in back 2 back finals mvps & back 2 back championships thus far. Why would he/they want to tinker with that philosophy that's currently a win for both sides?

there is always "guess work" until the ink is dry on the contract.

We have no clue what Klay will do when it really comes down to it. I THINK he will resign with GSW- but i also think he could be traded within a year or two of signing that contract.

You CANT have 4 max guys on the payroll without having INSANE tax liabilities. It is extremely unlikely all 4 of the Golden State big 4 are there after this year and next year. At least in my opinion.

Out of all of the Warriors, I think Klay is likely the 2nd, and possibly the 1st most likely to leave.

A lot of folks are saying KD may leave to form his own superteam somewhere, but I'm not sure I buy that.

If Klay does leave, I think the Lakers could be where he goes. His Dad was a Laker and is currently part of the broadcast team. It would be interesting to see if he would try to influence Klay's decision. I'd expect he wouldn't hate the idea of being able to see every one of Klay's games (and getting paid to do it lol).

As shopson said, the Warriors are going to have some tough decisions to make. If it comes down to a decision between KD and Klay...I would think that they'd pick KD.

It's funny that you think Klay is most likely to leave when he's in fact the only one that's said he'll take less money to stay lol.

Regarding KD, I agree with you. Again, there just isn't a better situation out there that can give him what he already has - and then some. He's happy with his teammates & the organization. He's winning AND doing so in a shared environment. I just don't think it gets any better than that.

If Klay's smart he'll leave the Warriors & go to Boston.

I agree, people can and sometimes do change. Which is why I said when he does it then I'm a believer.

I think this season, if things don't work as well as the Lakers hope, Lebron could look a bit like Kobe when the Lakers had Dwight and Nash.

He spent most of the season ignoring his baser instincts and trying to make it work. When it started looking like they may not make the playoffs, he just said "Fuck it" and dragged them to the playoffs.

I think Lebron will try to make it work, but if it's not? Well, let's just say, he's not missing the playoffs. lol

Of course things can change - but that's not what we're talking about here. People are saying he will walk away from GS even though he's told us differently. Since he's publically addressed it, we have to take him at his word until he says different or does something different.

As far as trades, there's only a handful of guys in the league that have control in that regard & Klay isn't one of them.

I also find your perspective interesting because when it was LBJ that folks were speculating about you were ready to bet the house he was loyal & going to stay. Now all of a sudden you are saying the exact opposite. lol

That's a pretty good analogy.

probably depends on the state. In Ohio child support is NOT deductable to the payor, but alimoney is--- although apparently that is changing in 2019.

It should. I'm surprised that the government doesn't get itself involved on that sort of income.

And most of that money's going to the baby mama.

Blake needs a new lawyer to get those payments down.
This reeks of the baby momma situation Wade has. Do you know I saw a pic of her on FB holding a sign saying she is an NBA'ers baby momma & homeless - with a kid (not one of his sons) sitting on the ground next to her? I don't really like Wade but felt so bad for him when I saw that. :L

The problem in Blake's case is he makes so much money - so chances are he won't be able to get it reduced. If anything it will go up as long as he earns more.

As good as he is, Thompson is the most replaceable. They can find a shooter who can play defense.

Lmfao.....

It's funny as hell. But, I don't buy a team with a healthy LeBron missing the playoffs.

No way.

Like I've already said I hope the Lakers miss the playoffs by 1 game.:hope: Then wiggy can have a one-man parade in downtown Cleveland celebrating that LeBron's legacy is ruined.

the court

I had a friend whom (love the guy to death, but was a complete idiot) that was a good dad and treated his baby mama great. This was during my time in the Marine Corps. He'd go to her house every weekend and see his kid which was an hour away (29 Palms to East LA). He'd buy groceries and also sorts of other shit on the weekend (which came out to about $800 per month).

She had a wild idea to take him to court for back payments on child support. The problem on his end was that he didn't keep a paper trail or any receipts. So to the courts, it looked like he didn't pay her a dime.

For 6 months, he had 80% of his pay taken from his check and he had to return his car because he couldn't afford the payments or even gas to go drive an hour to see his kid. It worked itself out though as when he went to take her back to court, it was founded that she took a trip to the Bahamas or some shit and left the kid with her mom. The judge lowered the child support and said the slate's clean even though he had a couple of grand left in back payments.

Oddly enough, 10 years later, dude and the baby mama are married. So yeah.....that's awkward.

The biggest problem with how child support is determined, imo, is that it's typically based strictly on a percentage of what the person paying it makes, without regard to any other bills they may have. At least that was my experience.
.....this is another reason Dude's end up broke and in jail.

Look and Derrick Rose.

He went from max salary guy to vet minimum.

His child support doesn't change automatically.

He has to petition and pray the judge reduces.

They won't if they take his endorsement money into consideration.

I probably should have been more clear. I think he's the most likely to leave because I think he's the most expendable of the Big 4.

Plus, while he said he would take less, he didn't say how much less he'd take and we don't know how much less the Warriors will need him to take.

If, for example, he's willing to take a $5 million cut per year....what happens if the Warriors need him to take a bigger cut?

Lol....

He will have to settle for Lebron's consecutive Finals streak to go up in smoke.

It really depends on how good your lawyer is.

I remember watching the Broke documentation (30 for 30). They had a lawyer that said that some of these athletes should've gone to see him because you can get that reduced, especially if it impacts you significantly (I think this pertained more to NFL athletes who don't make nearly as much as NBA athletes do).

But I stand by that the current system is beyond flawed. That's why I praise athletes like Klay whom seem to sleep around and not have kids.
