"ESPN Sources with @royceyoung: Oklahoma City, Carmelo Anthony will part ways this summer, likely saving team over $100M. Thunder working with 'Melo's reps on exits that include trade, stretch provision."

-Woj

Parker can still play.

But the SPURS 2nd best player is DEjounte Murray. The Spurs have super high expectations for him
Murray is set to be a new breakout star for them.

Plus, the Spurs drafted White last season as well. He was going to be battling Parker for the backup spot.
I dont think Tony Parker wanted to sit on the bench and fight for minutes with the young guys.

It sucks for Spurs fans, but it was the 100% correct thing to do. They could not give Parker another long term contract.

I would not call PARKER leaving imploding. It is natural progression of father time.
It is the Spurs finally giving Dejounte Murray the full vote of confidence after making all-NBA defense team.

I would bet even money that Murray wins Most Improved Player next year if Kawhi is not in SA.
If Kawhi is not around, Murray will probably have an exponential leap in scoring as the focus of the offense.
He will be a fantasy basketball steal based on likely being drafted late.

Parker was still hopeful to beat out White for the #2....but that doesnt look likely either now.
White tearing it up at the summer league was probably the final deciding factor. He seems healthy enough to finally play.

Patty Mills is more than capable of being the veteran PG presence if the young guys cannot handle it.
Parker was not going to be the #4 guard is somebody else wanted him as a #2.
