I like Dzingel but I'm happy with this one.

Duclair should be decent without Torts' constant nagging. He was brilliant early on when just allowed to have fun and play. And he's still in a "prove it" state of mind so should be relatively cheap to resign. I'll miss him and wish we could have had him without Torts.

I am slightly worried that CBJ could potentially not have a 1st or second in the next two drafts. But I sense that Jarmo is planning to still deal Bob and Wennberg (maybe even Panarin) and should hopefully recoup some of those picks.

If we can get Bob to Florida for a pick or two and Borgstrom and then get Wennberg out the door for a goalie like Smith, Quick or Elliott and a pick we could be okay.

Subtracting Bob, Panarin, Wennberg and with the cap boost that is expected we could wind up with 40m in cap. He could sign everyone and still add in July.

Dorion apparently asking for a king's ransom for Mark Stone - Hearing reports that he wants multiple 1st round picks + a 3-4 type defenseman for starters. Stone is a fine player, but that's nuckin futs.

It's not much of an uptick on what they got for Duchene. If Stone is better than Duchene (he is) isn't he worth more in trade?

Well, I guess we'll agree to disagree. I think Duchene is a little better than Stone, much better skater and we are talking center versus winger.

Montour was really good a couple of years ago, he is a great skating defenseman, but he seems to have taken a step back. Maybe a change of scenery is just what he needs. @esls79 can chime in and get us the 411.

Montour is ok, good skater, seems to pinch at bad times. Not sure how he's worth a first rounder.

Also, surprised Buffalo was in on Montour and not the Leafs. A 24 yo right handed d might have helped them out. Tortonto could have offered up a first rounder in the 20's a prospect as well.

They may have at the time they acquired Muzzin and the Ducks turned it down because they thought they were still in a race. I don't believe the Leafs plan to trade away first rounders in consecutive years.

Guhle is also a better prospect than either of the guys the Leafs sent to LA.

But like Muzzin when he was acquired, I think there's questions on how much Montour benefitted from playing alongside Lindholm. Muzzin's been okay in that regard so far, guess we'll find out about Montour - Sabres could be plotting to move Ristolainen and slot him next to Dahlen.

The Red Wings don't even pretend to be putting together a contender anymore.
