Lonzo was actually starting to develop last season with all the young players. I feel like Lebron is actually stunting his growth a bit and he has regressed some. Not blaming them for signing Lebron, but Ball, Kuzma and Randel could have been a nice young core. They need to get rid of KCP tho. He is mediocre at best.

agreed. he only "sucks" because he's not a scoring machine according to SOME knotheads around here...:rolleyes2:

But he still is playing better than Lonzo and a better fit with Sexton bc he is an aggressive player, both aren't ideal. I don't want either honstly. Lonzo has more potential but he sucks....tbh.
Ball was turning into a very good player last season. Burks is a G-League player. Lebron is hurting most of the other players sans Kuzma's growth

improvement wouldn't suit you, eh...?:heh:

LOL a 1 game improvment. I only take Lonzo bc of his age. He hasn't improved much at all. It's funny that it's this close. Lonzo was the 2nd pick and people thought he had star potential. Burks was a 12th pick, probably thought of him as a bench player---a good addition. Either way, if my option is trade one of those players for picks---I do it in a heartbeat

I agree with you, Shane.

But, I think you are focusing in on a different argument.

@tlance is saying, as currently constructed plus team goals.

The Cavs have already benched most vets in favor of developing youth.

They would absolutely start Lonzo and Sexton together, if for nothing more than to see who stays and who goes.

It's not a matter of who's better.

Lonzo with Shai would be horrific.

But, if the Clippers weren't dumb enough to actually be trying to make the playoffs, they would do the same.

Look at the Knicks.

They play Mudiay, Burke, Frank together constantly.

They have to evaluate who works with who.

Lakers gave up on Julius Randle too easily too. Guy was putting up 20 PER last season and is doing well with NO.

Yeah all those open looks and driving lines has definitely stunted his growth. More open looks and his 3 pt% went from 30% to 32%. He is definitely affecting that 50% ft pct as well. Lonzo has slightly improved, slightly as in he at least has more of a NBA body now, his game is basically the same.

I also feel like Ingram and Lonzo would probably have been better this season without Lebron. The team really played well in the second half of last season.

now THIS I agree with. would LOVE for Randle to still be playing here. that kinda low post aggressiveness is valuable on a basketball team...

Lebron has been good overall for the Lakers, but of course they are going in a different direction with signing him. I still think they had something prior to getting him. Now they are probably going after Durant in the offseason.

Like others have said,

This wouldn't be close if LeBron had gone anywhere else.

Lonzo does not fit with LeBron, because like @Mecca likes to say, everything Lonzo does well, LeBron does better. It is quite possibly the worst pairing for Lonzo's current production.

That said, you know Lonzo is learning a lot. And if he does end up in another team where he fits better, I think he will break out.

Still say Phoenix should have traded for him. Ariza and a pick (2nd round or heavily protected 1st) for Ball and KCP might have been perfect For both teams.

I know there is a thread on him already, but De'Aaron Fox is beasting this season. They just need Marving Bagley to pan out. Buddy Hield is looking like CJ McCollum as well.

Burks is shooting worse than Ball....LOL. And he's not the playmaker, rebounder, or defender Ball is.....

If they really want to keep Lebron for the long haul and he plays 4+ seasons, maybe they should trade Lonzo. Dude is going to hurt his value and development staying there as is IMO.
