The odds for the worst team to get the No. 1 pick are 14%.
The odds for the 4th worst team to get the No. 1 pick are 12.5%

The odds of the worst team getting a top 3 pick are 40%
The odds of the 4th worst team getting a top 3 pick are 37%

Which percentages would you rather have?

Anyone know what team has the most wins in the last 30 days?

Its the Lakers with 12.
(6ers, Clips, and Mavs have 11. Raps and Thunder have 10.)

This is truly a sign of the apocalypse.

All these Phoenix trade scenarios really depend on 2 things:

1) how dumb is Robert Sarver?
2) how desperate is he to win by next season?

?

If he's keeping all these kids, #2 better not come into play.

Yes.

But it drops considerably after that.

With a pick swap in hand, the Cavs lose incentive to tank. A team like Cleveland actually trying to win games in the East could easily climb to 6 or 7.

A team that I think could actually really use KCP is the Pistons. Their biggest hole is at SG and KCP would make a nice backcourt mate for Reggie.

And Ish Smith could be the perfect piece for the Suns. He's out for awhile with an injury so he's not helping the Pistons win and he won't disrupt the Suns tanking.

The 5th worst team has a 32% chance of getting a top 3 pick.

6 is 27%
7 is 22%

The Suns would need a miracle to avoid being a bottom 4.

KCP has a no trade clause. You think there is a chance in hell he would accept going back to Detroit?

Ish Smith is a FA next year.

Of course I would rather have a 40% chance.

Would I want my team to remain in stasis out of fear of climbing from the worst record to the 4th worst record? No.

Agreed, but I also think there are only 4 teams bad enough not to be able to hang around with any team on any given night.

Was going to say this last night. Even though there are mediocre teams in the league, most teams are good enough to be competitive.

Yeah, I think KCP would. That would mean a starting role for him. Reports say that's what he wants, a bigger role in a a contract year. And SVG is gone now lol

Good point on Ish Smith, didn't realize he was on his last year. Still, Suns would get his bird rights and an inside track.

The Suns would need a miracle. The Cavs could get there.

That is why a pick swap with Cleveland would be a terrible idea.

Oh I would be shocked if the Suns were even thinking of doing a swap or giving up any draft assets.

They are on pace for a 12 win season. Even the most delusional owners would realize that, even a guy like Sarver.

Anything is possible I guess but I have a hard time imagining Ish Smith as their solution at point.

i mean, moving down AT MOST - 3-4 spots does not seem prohibitive eto clear 46M in guarantees....

but we shall see.

Anderson's contract is only partially guaranteed for next season ($15.6M). They should have almost $30M in cap space available even with his full contract on the books. They could chase RFA PGs like Russell and Rozier, or UFAs like Dinwiddie, Rubio, Rose, Payton, or even Kemba (to a point).

Need more salary from the Pistons to make things match up though...

KCP also has a trade kicker and is looking for more PT.

Would you want your team to invest in a petulant $40M per PG that has never won anything?
