@WiggyRuss Why the rainbow? Was it because of my trade grade? You guys take on 16M in salary for a 1st round pick that will be in the 25 range and a future 2nd round pick in the late 50's. That good value?

Picks are for 2021 draft

Cavs fans reaction to hearing George Hill was traded, then finding out what the return was....

I think the trade makes sense for the Cavs, they should be rebuilding and getting some future draft picks(even if they aren't in the lottery) in order to take on Henson and Delly for less than 2 seasons isn't really a bad thing when they're not contending anyway. This is the kind of deal that'd make sense for the Kings, but maybe they are trying to go for Otto Porter or one of the top FA's in 2019 no matter how unlikely they are to sign one.

As I was saying to Wiggy, people overstate the value of expiring contracts. They have some values but not many GMs are going to be keen on selling the farm to get out of a contract unless it is uniquely terrible

I think the deal is pretty good for the Cavs. Amassing picks is always a good thing. And while it is unlikely that the Bucks will collapse in the next 3 years, it could happen.

Unless you thought that the Cavs were going to get SGA from the Clippers or Kevin Knox from the Knicks. Then this is a terrible deal.

Neither of those players were gonna be traded for George Hill, so I guess it was pretty good.

Warriors gave up 2 1st round picks and 2 second round picks to shed cap space to sign Andre Iguodala.

Precedent has been set for these sorts of trades.

Also you have to consider the value of the contract. 20M voidable. That's nearly 20% of a team's actual cap space. It's not an 8M or 9M expiring to be combined. It literally can help save your franchise with that type of money move.

the trade market will heat up once the major FA's sign

if the Lakers strike out in the FA market, which they very well may, then you look at guys like Wall, Beal, maybe even Love, maybe Lillard (though i cant see the Blazers dealing him)....
I think they should be tryna get Beal now, while he's trying to force his way out of DC.

Oh these trades can happen. But they usually don't and almost always require very specific circumstances. In the case of the Warriors, the Jazz benefited because the Warriors could only get Iggy via trade and Denver didn't want/couldn't take on the salary. So they Jazz got brought in.

George Hill alone was 19M. It would have been difficult to get expiring contracts for an $19M contract for the next 2 years. So they got much younger and got the picks. I mean I love Delly not sure about Henson, he didnt play much in MIL so hard to tell. George Hill really wasnt needed. Either way they saved a couple mil, got some picks (not great ones) and those contracts expire after 2019-2020 season so yeah lol

Not as happy as he was last season when the Kings dumped his contract to the Cavs.

He definitely is happier than after missing that fucking free throw

Everyone loves Delly except Hawford lol. The fact that we got a 1st round and players for hill is pretty surprising...I would have traded hill for a 2nd round pick tbh

Deal makes more sense with the 1st Rd pick, but that's going to be in the late 20's. Also a future 2nd round pick which will be in the high 50's as well. Overall, D+ grade on the return.

Still...DELLY IS BACK.

Or it could be a 2023 1st rounder.....LOL.
