Yes, but that deal wasn't offered to everyone. When he didn't get offers he liked, he went to GS and offered them that deal. Again, we don't know how much he can even play this year, and at what level. At that cost, it's a solid risk to take.
The same deal was offered to the Lakers.

They passed.

The Lakers turned down a chance to get DeMarcus Cousins, reports The New York Times' Marc Stein.

Cousins agreed to a one-year, $5.3 million deal with the Warriors on Monday.

According to Stein, the Lakers, "after signing Rajon Rondo away from New Orleans and then losing Randle to the Pelicans, had an opportunity to sign Cousins at a one-year price point similar to the one that landed him in Golden State. But [Stein was] told the Lakers passed, clearing the way for the Warriors to infuriate the basketball public yet again."

LA reportedly turned down chance to sign Cousins

Crazy watching the spurs games last week. Lost by 30+ in back to back games. Last time they did that they fired their head coach at the end of the season and brought in a new staff which included a 30 something year old Popovich as an assistant.

Never thought I'd see the Spurs struggle.

I'd prefer if they'd go back to struggling for the next 7 minutes

Yeah, thinking about it, I agree re: Lebron and blame. When the Heat lost to the Mavs, Lebron got destroyed. Everyone and their brother was calling him out.

Remember the "Never ask Lebron for change for a dollar because you'll only get 3 quarters back" type jokes? I do. I was making a lot of them. lol

Hell, he even got criticized after the 2 they won. Folks saying they should have an asterisk and that Ray Allen bailed him out.

The last 3 that he lost...can't really be put on him. In the first 2, folks were talking about the possibility of the MVP coming from the losing team. The only reason it wasn't talked about last year was because the Cavs got swept.

I think LAD's explanation is probably closer to the reason. He has been known to take cryptic and/or passive aggressive shots at his teammates. Could come back to bite him.

It's tough to knock him. A playoff series or two. The decision (bad choice, but can't argue where the money was going). But outside of that... really nothing there.

The Allen thing just amazed me. He hit the three before that one to make it a one score game. Then in OT, assisted on or scored every heat point till Allen went to the line on an intentional foul with 2 seconds left. Then in the deciding game 7. With Bosh and Allen both scoring 0 points Lebron goes off and hits every midrange shot you thought he couldn't. Win or go home games 6/7 The combination of Wade, Bosh, and Allen scored 54 points. Lebron scored 69.

And agree on the losing team MVP bit. I'm fine giving it to the winning team. But his 34 point triple double on 56% shooting vs. the deepest defending wing team (Durant, Draymond, Iggy) was amazing. Then next year plays nearly as well as they get swept. And the year before when he won leading all players on both teams in points, assists, boards, steals and blocks was just insane. Biggest Finals performance I've ever seen.

Crazy watching Pierce on TV and thinking "that's the last guy to keep Lebron out of the finals".

Yes.

They signed Beasley, Lance, Mcgee instead.

It's fine. LA needed to spend on guys who can help them win to get to the post-season. If he was willing to play for the on a one year deal I'd have thought about it. Might as well. But he will most likely be a FA next year. Can only sign with the Warriors for 120% of his current deal. So if he's back and playing well, unless he wants to play for 6 mil next year, he's going to be going somewhere else. Then if he's played well to end this year I'd take a look at him in LA.

If this indeed is finally a shit year for them, you gotta applaud the run. But I bet I'll feel the same in a couple years after the winning is over in Golden State. All dynasties end eventually

Lebron put on a virtuoso performance tonight. Lebron can play off the ball some for 3 quarters, but like tonight, he has to play point forward in the 4th, and initiate the offense

Man lots of great individual performances across the league tonight, but saved the best for last.

Lakers have won 13 of their last 17. LeBron for MVP
