It wasn't a bad trade. It was likely a bad result because Fultz, at least so far, forgot how to shoot.

Fultz was exactly the type of player the Sixers needed at the time. Tatum was not.

It doesn't hold a candle to such classics as the Nets/Celtics theft. Or the Knicks trade for Bargnani. Or the Magic trade for Payton.
while all of those are extremely bad trades also....i am pretty sure that trading the #3 pick and a Sacramento lotto pick (what other kind are there? @Bolts sorry) for the #1 pick and drafting Fultz instead of Tatum is a very bad trade as well.

it just goes to show you - no one is immune. Though id rather not have guys like Billy King or Jimmy "Short" Buss, or Isiah Thomas running the show.

Updated MVP Rankings:

1) Steph Curry
2) Giannis

3) Everyone else.

If the season were to end today, there is no way that Steph should be MVP. He has missed half of the season.

I also think that Embiid is very much in the mix. 28 ppg and 13 rpg is pretty rare stuff

You guys obviously haven't been following my MVP rankings from the beginning of the season. LOL.

After what happened on Twitter, I wouldn't blame him if he retires. He's still a HOF player, IMO. The Wizards aren't in contention, so there's no reason for him to even set foot on the court for them this year. I'd be really surprised if he didn't just call it a day.

Guy has like 11 kids, he's going to try and get every NBA check that he can get.

It was a bad player evaluation. I don't believe it was a bad trade.

Honestly, how was it any different than the Mavs/Hawks trade? The Mavs gave up a 1st round pick next year to move up 2 spots. The difference is that Doncic looks great and Fultz clearly has some sort of confidence problem.

It's about risk/reward. The Sixers took a risk and looks like it failed. That happens. That is VASTLY different than making foolish deals like giving up a future unprotected 1st to clear 10 million in cap space.

Not sure I follow. Steph was clearly the leader for MVP until he got hurt.

You think that a player that plays 40 something games should ever be considered an MVP?

Holy hell. Now the situation makes more sense. He's not trying to have any more kids, LOL.

While Steph was a contender for the MVP, amongst a lot of other players earlier in the season, I continually made remarks saying my MVP rankings were Steph was 1 and everyone else was ranked 2nd waaaay below him.

I'm under no actual illusions that Steph is a front runner for the MVP at this point, or even in the conversation at all after the amount of games he's missed. It was more me "conceeding" that another player was having a great year. Thanks for having me have to explain this and ruining my fun.

And even though Steph was a candidate, I don't even believe he was clearly a leader for MVP. Giannis was already having a monster season at that point too. AD was putting up crazy numbers. Jokic was killing at the time.

Greek Freak will win MVP

100%. NBA needs him to stay in Milwaukee and NBA writers always like a new face. Also and probably the biggest factor is that he would rightly be deserving of it.

Oh Giannis is absolutely a favorite to win MVP. Especially because MVP is so much about narrative and the narrative has been how awesome he has been.

I don't know if you listen Bill Simmons podcast but he and Ryan Russilo were talking about this earlier this week. Giannis is clearly having a great year. But Embiid is having a MONSTER year as well. And he's being a bully on the court while doing it. Both of them were talking about the more they looked at Embiid's season the more impressive it was.

Giannis will probably win the MVP. Or Steph if he comes back and stays healthy. But there are other guys have dominant seasons.

50+ wins and top 3 seed in the east should seal the deal for him

Ok. I'll bite. How is your comment relevant to Mecca's comment?

He's talking about the past.

The Clippers traded a pick to the Cavs to dump the corpse of Baron Davis.

That pick turned out to be Kyrie.

We don't have a toxic contract on our roster that would justify trading SG-A.

We have one year of Gallo, Montrezl, Lou and the Rookies on the books next year.

Tobias has a 22 mil cap hold.

Everyone else is UFA or Team options.

the Sacramento pick that is going to Boston through Philly- a pick that could end up being a freaking #1 pick- was the pick they traded to dump Thompson and Landrys contracts.

Shocked you didn't mention Kyrie.

Today the Rockets play the Spurs and the Mavs play the Lakers. I think we all knew at seasons start that the first game would be teams under .500 and the second teams over .500

Apparently he thinks that the Cavs will once again get someone to give away the farm in order to dump salary. So he is creating a scenario where the Clips or Knicks or Nets can sign to max free agents but they need to dump salary and the only team that will take offers for Galo or Hardaway or Crabbe are the Cavs and they will demand SGA or Knox or the Nets likely lottery pick next year. It's just silly.

Teams do dumb things. But even the Sactown and Clips trades need to be put into the context that neither team thought there was a chance that they would be lottery teams.

Yeah, I have been in his shoes for the majority of my fandom.

It sucks donkey Dick when the draft, fictional trade scenarios are the only thing left to give you hope.
