That last part. James is going to be on the decline before long and the coach they hire will probably outlast him in Los Angeles. That's my biggest part of this whole coaching search.

Exactly. That's why I think they need to get input from Lebron, but ultimately they need to hire the coach that they think is the best for them long term regardless of who Lebron wants.

Aside from the fact that I think Luke is a good coach who is only going to get better, the "coaching carousel" that they've had since Phil needs to stop.

So, whether they keep Luke or bring in someone else, the coach and players need to know that he's there because the FO wants him and plans on keeping him long term, not that he's there because Lebron wants him there.

Did you watch last night's game?

Caruso, McGee, and KCP all balling out while they audition for jobs next season.

Yeah, I watched most of it.

I wouldn't mind seeing McGee and Caruso back. Of all of the 1 year guys, McGee has been the one who has actually worked out and consistently helped the team. Plus, he stayed out of all of the drama that happened during the AD debacle.

Caruso has shown that he can be a solid back up/spot starter. I like KCP more than the rest of you fellow Lakers fans, but he's just not consistent enough to warrant another contract, imo.

Off topic but Bobby Bonilla is still getting paid by the Mets. Smart mofo.

"Bonilla and his agent offered the Mets a deal: Bonilla would defer payment for a decade, and the Mets would pay him an annual paycheck of $1.19 million starting in 2011 and ending in 2035, adding up to a total payout of $29.8 million."

He could be dead by the time the final check is cashed....

McGee is getting his last payday so he's gone.

Caruso may opt to sign elsewhere....

I watched the 1st half. Then went to bed and was looking at gamecast. They were creeping back and I was like GS is gonna go on a run. But they cut the 20 lead to 3 so I turned the game back on. A hell of a comeback and fight give them a scare plus they got a loss. Double win lol
27 points, 4 assists and 0 turnovers for Sexton last night. Thats pretty impressive.

It'll be interesting. McGee has definitely earned himself a pay raise. Staying with the Lakers will likely depend on how much he wants and how the Lakers spend their money.

McGee may be interested in staying too because of what the team was playing like before all of the injuries hit:

JaVale McGee says the Lakers were playing ‘pretty unstoppable’ before he got pneumonia and the rest of the team got injured

Caruso will be interesting too. He's played well, but it's been over a shorter period of time that McGee. I expect that if some team offers him the opportunity to start...he's gone. But if he's going to be a backup, then I think he may stay.

So you need to get one or more of the greatest off all time, then surround him or them with a bunch of veteran shooters?

Both teams you named are extremely rare situations, which actually strengthens my opinion.
Extremely rare? But we are talking about "today's" NBA and they have won the last 4 titles.

One of the closest teams to beat GS in the West had to suck in order to get westbrook, Durant (and Harden)

McGee is 31.....he'd be a moron to stay and play for less.....unless it's just another 1 year deal after the Lakers sign whomever they can this summer. But, another team looking for a center could offer 2-3 years and say 20-30 million....maybe more. Lot of teams have cap space this summer.

I think the Lakers could offer him 80 on another 2 way contract.....think I heard that during a recent game.....but he could get 3-5 million from another team with the way he's played lately. And more playing time. He's been getting all this recent PT because of guys shut down.....and he's benefitted from it and cold turn it into a nice raise.

He probably isn't the answer to the guy who had a broken shot and fixed it, but I have to think what he has done (especially lately) as a shooter has been very impressive considering the rap on him coming in (cannot say I saw him play much in college).

Spo is usually very good in those situations.
My guess is he sure didn’t draw up what we saw executed.
Well said. Cracks me up when fans rip playcalling (especially in football). we only know the result, not the entire play.

Warriors got it right with new ownership and management.

Cavs had arguably the greatest player of all-time to bridge everything together.

These are outliers, my friend.
And look like the champs of the last 4 and maybe 5 seasons.

There are 2 types of heat beat writers. The half empty guys like Ira and others then the half full guys like this. No middle ground at all lol

I'd say many fans are like this. I call them 100%ers. Nothing in between. Players/coaches/teams/GMs, etc are all great or suck to these folks.

Depending on how they use their cap space, he might stay for a little less or they may be able to give him that much.

It'll be interesting to see what his offers are. Despite him being much better the past 2 years, I'm sure his "Shaqtin' A Fool" days will still be used against him to some extent.

Plus, while he's a good defender and rim protector, he's still not really a "modern day center" because he's not giving you anything offensively that's more than about 5 feet from the rim.
