Saw a Tweet that says Juwan Howard is the surprise betting fave to be the next Laker HC.....

Fuck no......please.

Not sure what the issue would be with that.

As @bksballer89 points out, this is a guy that has spent time as an assistant coming up through the ranks and learning.

From what I understand, he's a good defensive coach.

While I would prefer the Lakers keep Luke. I think I'd prefer Howard over Mark Jackson or Jason Kidd.

He also should be someone that Lebron will listen to since they were teammates and he even coached him for a year.

I'm not going to say he's done a great job but he's learning on the job as is Pelinka but landing the best player on the planet and having a lot of cap space means it isn't all Dooms Day like some are acting.....this offseason is crucial however.

Credit that they didn't blow their space on filler but as you say this off-season is make or break for the Lebron era

Luke had very little experience as a HC......Howard has no HC experience.

I think they need a veteran coach with experience following the Walton hire.

Who are they going to get that's better than Luke or Howard?

Steve Kerr had no experience

Mike Budenholzer had no experience before getting the Hawks job either.

There is absolutely no issue hiring a coach who been an assistant for several years as the your next HC.

That is the goal for damn near all assistant coaches....to eventually get a HC position

It is a better option than going for a bad HC with experience who got fired multiple times.

As they do every year that James isn't on the team.

Seems like a better strategy than the Heat and being a borderline playoff team. Congrats on that, it's working for ya lolzzz.

A below .500 team with a huge payroll, no high draft picks and no AS players LOL

Lavar Ball is back trying to get his three sons all on the same team.

I’m sure it’ll work out.

What do you have against Juwan Howard?

He has gone through the system correctly. This isn't some guy who was an announcer on ESPN/TNT and just handed a job

He seems like a good dude too.

Not sure how he will be a a HC, but he deserves a shot.

That is one thing I agree with.

The need some one with cache who can command LBJ's respect.

But I am not sure there is a coach available who can do that on day 1. Howard has a chance to earn it though.

He ruined Lamelo and Liangelo might not crack the local Y's adult champs.

The Lamelo deal is messed up. He was about as good a college prospect as Lonzo

Every family has a Cooper Manning. Just let him sell insurance

They treat their players better? That was my point with the comment.

They released a player this season.....a day or 2 before his contract would become permanent.....I think it was McCaw? Maybe I'm wrong on the player but they know it's a business also. Pretty sure it was McCaw but it could have been somebody else.
They got McCaw a better deal than he otherwise would have received, didn't they?

The Cavs fans can't understand this.

Over their heads.
True.....We only had 4 years to rebuild as opposed to 6 and went to the Finals the year Lebron came back.

No doubt acquiring him and not being any better is nothing I could fathom.

Regardless, they are competitive most nights, have essentially been playing playoff type games for a few weeks already, and in a year will have cap space again.

And, overall it has worked. When James/Bosh came, we lost assets.

Signing or not signing Whiteside or the others didn't matter.

Warriors took the stage for now.
