No doubt about this. If the Cavs added Durant after 2016 they could have won as many games as they wanted in 2017 during the regular season. could have named their score in the Finals, as well.

It wasn't a possibilty because they were over the cap.

Even if it had been, you continually neglect the concept of fit between players. The GS system was a much better fit for KD than Cleveland would have been because of two ball movement.

Not saying Cleveland wouldn't have won, they would have. But you make it seem like it would have been better than current GS, and that is not an assumption I would make.

Agreed. And I get your point.

But truth be told,

I am not sure that player exists in the current era.

It used to be that you needed a superstar and strong support players. Now, you need a superstar, 1 or 2 more allstars + some good support players.

Of course, even with Kyrie's level of crazy you could have put him on GS instead of Curry the last 2 years and this one and I doubt anyone thinks GS would not have won the title if he was/is healthy.

GS definitely would not have beaten Houston last year with Kyrie instead of Curry.

Point is, no way Harper is worth that much.

Depends. From a production standpoint, he's not, imo. But then, I don't think anyone produces enough to be worth that.

But when you add in the fact that fans, especially kids, like him...he's worth it because of what he makes the team.

That's why, while I agree with you that Trout should get more because based on production, I'm not sure he will.

For one, it doesn't seem like he's one to demand that kind of money and he isn't into being marketed. So he's unlikely to make a team what Harper will, even though he's the better player.
