Puts to rest the idea that Ohtani was just paying lip service to everyone but the Padres.
One of them is wrong if not both. Both Seattle and the Angels have added 1M to their International pool thru trades with Minnesota. They are both just behind Texas in pool money and both feel that that and their West Coast locales will beat us out for Ohtani

well let's hope that the force is with usI still recall that the Blue Jays had won the Yu sweepstakes as well. It was signed sealed and delivered right up until it wasn't.
we need another starter even if we get Ohtani and at least 1 outfielder and a closerWhat other needs do we need to fill this offseason?
At some point we need a closer, a Catcher, a better second baseman, a better CF and a #2 pitcher even if we get Otani. I doubt we get those up the middle position players this offseason though. What other needs do we need to fill this offseason?
If the Rangers are close to being as interested in him coming back as he seems to be I think we will sign him.and thousands of DFW hearts skip a beat.
Anyone hear about who we might spend our slot money on if we fail to land Otani?
I do remember there being another Cuban player who defected a few weeks back.
They also got a million international signing bonus money.Mariners To Acquire Dee Gordon
The Mariners have struck a deal with the Marlins to acquire second baseman Dee Gordon, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic (Twitter link). The return is not known at this point.
It’s a rather stunning move that was not at all anticipated for a Seattle organization that has highly-paid star Robinson Cano at Gordon’s accustomed position of second base. Just what the organization has in mind really isn’t clear at first glance.
