Luck is the poster boy for "Its everyone elses' fault"
"Grigsen sucks"
"Oline sucks"
"Defense Sucks"
All things the truly great ones have overcome time and time again
He cant stay healthy, his decision making is awful
He's been fortunate enough to be in a shitshow division, and has earned the right to head New England a couple of times in January and lose by a combined score of 749-52
I don't know how you can rank Dalton ahead of Newton & Smith. At least those guys can win in the postseason. Just sayin! How I see it:

Data interpretation is always conservative. And Dak wouldn't be analyzed in isolation, but along with dozens if not hundreds of QB's. That's just basic data literacy 101.Do tell? Science is based on data and facts, right? I don't really care what category you want to put Dak in, but how is assuming he will be way worse than anything he ever has been scientific?
It's a lazy and incomplete narrative (Why only Dak but not Ben or Carr?) but one I suspect you are correct about. It's justifiable if you're just conservative in interpretation but the list doesn't really follow that schtick so you're right here actually I think.IMO Dak is in this category simply because he only played one year and because they titled it "needs a run game" which is what every marginal NFL fan thinks of Dak based on what they've read in the paper. Maybe it was the EXECUTIVE secretary to the chief ball washer they interviewed...
I tend to agree- we should get a strong look minus Zeke.Personally I think Dak is a top 10 or higher QB, but I kind of agree this is the category he should be in right now because it's just too early to know for sure what he is.
50 league insiders (coaches and Executives) placed NFL QB’s in Tiers from 1-4. This is an ESPN Insider article. I am sure everyone does not have insider so I compiled the list.
The list is in the order of their ranking overall.
TIER 1– The Quarterback can carry his team each week. The team wins because of him. Expertly handles pure-pass situations
Tom Brady
Aaron Rodgers
Ben Roethlisberger
Drew Brees
Matt Ryan
TIER 2 – Can carry his team sometimes, but not as consistently. Can handle pure pass situations in doses or possesses other dimensions that are special enough to elevate him above Tier 3. Has a hole or two in his game.
Andrew Luck
Derek Carr
Phillip Rivers
Matthew Stafford
Russell Wilson
Eli Manning
Cam Newton
Kirk Cousins
TIER 3 – QB is a legitimate starter, but needs a heavier run game and/or defense to win. A lower volume pass offense makes his job easier.
Dak Prescott
Joe Flacco
Carson Palmer
Marcus Mariota
Jameis Winston
Andy Dalton
Alex Smith
Carson Wentz
Ryan Tannehill
Sam Bradford
Jay Cutler
Tyrod Taylor
TIER 4 - could be an unproven player with some upside, or a veteran that is ultimately best suited as a backup. Teams might not want these guys starting all 16 games.
Trevor Siemian
Mike Glennon
Colin Kaepernick
Blake Bortles
Paxton Lynch
Brian Hoyer
Jared Goff
Tom Savage
Josh McCown
Brock Osweiler
Cody Kessler
I almost forgot ESPN even existed. They're about as reputable a source for anything as the "homeless veteran" panhandler standing at the parking lot entrance of your local Wal-Mart.
I don't know how you can rank Dalton ahead of Newton & Smith.
Fair enough. I'd still rank Newton & Smith higher though. Dalton is every bit as inconsistent & average as both of them, if not more. And like you said, AJ Green. He alone is the sole reason why Dalton is still a starter in this league. Well, him & Marvin Lewis lol. But without Green, Dalton would be comparable to Jay Cutler.Newton is very inconsistent and Smith is consistently average. Though, if Newton or Smith had A.J. Green they'd be ranked higher. And if Dalton didn't have A.J. Green, he'd probably be at least a couple spots lower.
If I'm tiering it off last year and guessing what they should do next year:
MVP Frontrunner
1. Matt Ryan
MVP Contenders
2. Tom Brady
3. Aaron Rodgers
4. Drew Brees
5. Russell Wilson
Franchise QBs
6. Big Ben
7. Andrew Luck
8. Kirk Cousins
9. Dak Prescott
10. Derek Carr
Maybe great, Maybe not
11. Philip Rivers
12. Cam Newton
13. Carson Palmer
14. Jay Cutler
15. Marcus Mariota
16. Jameis Winston
17. Eli Manning
Starting Level Players
18. Joe Flacco
19. Matthew Stafford
20. Alex Smith
21. Andy Dalton
Better than not having a QB
22. Sam Bradford
23. Trevor Siemian
24. Carson Wentz
From there I'm just throwing darts. I'm not sure Matt Ryan's body of work as a career means he'll repeat last year but on paper Im not sure why we wouldn't. Someone like Jared Goff could be anywhere on the list because Im not sure he ever had a chance of doing anything his rookie year. Wentz could also shoot up a list like this.
Carr had a 7.0 YPA last year and has a career YPA of 6.46Some of this looks like you were picking names out of a hat. Prescott ahead of Carr? You do know he's going into his sophomore season, correct?
Carr really wasn't all that good his first two years in the league and one decent one. Why should that outweigh one pretty good one? Some of this looks like you were picking names out of a hat. Prescott ahead of Carr? You do know he's going into his sophomore season, correct?
He is a weird case study. He is either going to be the next big player or the next Blake Bortles.Carr really wasn't all that good his first two years in the league and one decent one. Why should that outweigh one pretty good one?

Prescott already had a better year than Carr has ever had- what are you talking about? He's coming into his 4th year of being an above average QB while Prescott could be looking at a break out year just as easily as a sophomore slump. Too soon to claim him a franchise QB.
