Rondo to Melo and Porzy would be pretty good......and it keep him out of Los Angeles.
I didn't see a lot of this kid in college......Dennis Smith Jr has some sick athleticism. And the Knicks could have drafted him.
Why would they want Melo to stay?
They haven't been happy with the offers they have been getting......read that on ESPN.
Because Melo is a bad contract. He has little to no trade value. The Knicks can't seriously hope to get anything but bad contracts in return.
So just keep him and they should be trying to get Rondo so they can be as good as they can be, especially since Porzingis has upside and they could be a 5-6 seed in a weakened EC.
Rondo's not going to elevate that team. The Knicks are beyond horrible.

He is a pass first PG that can be fine with a team full of other vets.....he'd be pretty good at working the pick and roll with Melo and Porzingis. A lot better than what they had last season. And with Porzy's continued development? I think that would be the best spot for him at this point in time.
Purgatory.
Literally the only bright spot on that team is Kristaps. Everything else about their present and forseeable future is hot garbage.

Rondo has worn out his welcome on just about every team. Their ceiling is low playoff seed. Their likely spot will be out of the playoffs. The Knicks aren't a team that's full of veterans.

Yep, ^this^... I think New York walking away from trade talks is simply a maneuver to try to get Houston/other teams to improve their offer.
New York just hired a new GM so I'm sure he wants to assess the situation. That being said, I think New York walking away from trade talks is simply a maneuver to try to get Houston/other teams to improve their offer.
PreachIt is so funny how people overreact to small sample sizes. Rondo played well in the playoffs and the Bulls collapsed after he got hurt. So many assume that Rondo was the reason for the series turn around, but they forget how poorly Boston played in games 1 and 2 in the wake of IT's family tragedy.
Rondo is what he is. A distributing PG who can't shoot and tends to overdribble. He can help a team if the fit is right, but he isn't a difference maker anymore.
