Hmmmmm. Read where Magic was leery of giving up too much.....but PG ion purple and gold would give us the superstar we've lacked since Kobe's corpse retired.
They have to give up something or wait and hope he doesnt like whatever Team trades for Him.

I would wait before giving up #2.

He Seems Adamant About Being A Laker.

It's the Agent that is backing Magic into a corner.

Can't trade Randle or D Lo, #2 is all they can use.

Clarkson obviously is not gonna get it done.

As the rumors continue to circulate, it’ll be interesting to see if the Lakers can somehow acquire George while also keeping the pick and Ingram. It seems as though the rest of the roster is expendable, but George’s agent, Aaron Mintz, is reportedly lobbying for D’Angelo Russell and Julius Randle to be off the table in trade talks as they are both his clients as well.

I'm just not so sure how bad the lakers want to keep russell. Indiana doesn't need a point guard so. Maybe they don't want to hand keys over to ball right away. I say still don't cave to pacers they are the ones in the bind.

If they give up number 2, they are making a huge mistake.

This is starting to look like the Knicks deal for Carmelo all over again. Lakers are bidding against themselves. Let Indiana trade George to Celeveland or Boston. Sure, there is a chance he resigns there. But, there is a better chance he doesn't.

Paul george + the current core does not make the Lakers relevant. They need George + Ball/Jackson + Ingram + cap space.

I disagree. PG is better than the #2 pick imo.....there's no guarantee that pick pans out. And PG could go somewhere and end up liking the city and end up re-signing.

PG comes and the cap goes up, maybe we unload Mov or Deng and get a free agent next summer......such as James if he decides to leave......or another FA.

The Pacers are supposedly asking for the #2 and the 2019 #1. If Magic tries to screw the Pacers, they can just back away and deal PG to someone else and pick up a deal.

Think about it for a minute, the Pacers aren't in a bind, they're in the driver's seat until next year.

Let's say that the Celtics decide to try for PG. They would, of course, want to speak with him about an extension before they'd consider a trade. Think the #3, Brooklyn's 2018 first rounder and Memphis 2019 first rounder along with Jae Crowder and Marcus Smart wouldn't interest the Pacers?

The Lakers have to pony up enough to keep other suitors away from the table. Once the Pacers stop talking to the Lakers, the doorbell will never stop ringing. Or the phone.......

If this is the case, then the Lakers should not want Paul George. If Russell and Randle have to be on the team long term, then it isn't worth it. That nucleus just isn't strong enough and those guys are all getting paid relatively soon.
La Times, Daily News, Lakersnation all reporting the same scenario.

If the Lakers want him now, #2 is all they have to work with unless they get other Teams involved.

Though the Lakers want to hold on to their No. 2 pick and Ingram, it could become complicated trading either point guard D’Angelo Russell or forward Julius Randle. They share the same agent as George’s, Aaron Mintz, who is looking out for his clients’ best interests.

Lakers so far holding firm on keeping No. 2 pick, Brandon Ingram

Magic is preparing for next offseason. Hopefully, we can get PG and go shopping next summer....
