The Boston theory make sense about trying to create some cap space etc, but if that's the case, you would think Riley would move on quickly.
Wouldn't it make sense that Riley could have at least sent or received a text to know if the Heat were still in the running?

Everything I'm reading says the decision is made but the official announcement is being delayed. The Utah folks have not been officially informed for some unknown reason. Maybe they've shut off their phones during 4th of July lunch or something.
Danny has some mad scrambling to do to open up the money.
If you see a bunch of Celtic transactions involving Olynyk, Jerebko, Rozier, Green and a couple of others, you won't need any announcement. Supposedly he has two or three minor trades involving several player and a major trade involving Crowder and Bradley.

Sounds almost like when Lebron went back to Cleveland. Riley & Cleveland didn't know until it was public. And Lebron expected Cleveland to clear cap space even though he had committed to them yet.

Lebron did not share with anyone what his decision (except for apparently 4-5 people) -- until it was public. Anyone who thinks they know what Lebron is doing next year is making stuff up.

Windhorst book is very interesting & complete on this stuff.

Riley need to stop going after the top free agents. Been burned by this 3 straight years now. Need to start looking at other free agents who are not waiting 4 or 5 days so he can move on to plan B fast.
