Same here. NBC used tocover the French and Wimbledon. CBS/USA did the US Open while ESPN used to do all the majors except the US Open but the difference now is that all of Wimbledon and the US Open is on ESPN from first ball to last. NBC is only involved in the French Open

I'm probably getting my memories mixed up then. Maybe NBC never did the Australian Open then.

For one of the majors NBC did, every year, I remember having to wait a long time on the final Friday because their broadcast was tape delayed. There always seemed to be a big gap between Wednesday night and then Friday evening's tape delayed coverage. But I don't remember enough to remember what major it was anymore.

The 2nd set of Nadal-Raonic was a good set. It was a battle over who could impose their style on the other.

Raonic had a few break chances, but couldn't break.

He had 3 set points late in the set, but couldn't convert.

It went into a tiebreaker.

Raonic then had 3 more set points in the tiebreaker, but Nadal came up with passing shots to save and then win the tiebreaker.

Nadal won in 3 sets.

Overall, Raonic didn't make the best decision on some shots.

After the match, Raonic said he was happy to see Dmitrov because Dmitrov has had a lot of expectations to be one of the "top top players", and now it seems to be coming through.

He also said he's happy to see FED, because it's good to see people come back after an injury layoff.

He also said that "if you're not excited about FED vs. Wawrinka, then you don't love the sport."

And he said it's good to see Wawrinka continue to show he's one of the top players too.

Didn't even know the match was tonight. I don't know why I thought both men semis were tomorrow.

BTW it is very good to see the Bryan bros in the semi finals. Hopefully they can win it

The Australian Open always has separate days for the Men's SFs.

It was Wimbledon and probably the French Open as well. I still remember that year when Roddick was defeated by Fed at Wimbledon in that crazy 5th, they did not show the Murray vs Roddick Semi Finals live.

Yep ridiculous that the winner of these guys tonight would have a huge advantage. I don't care when you play the semifinals but both should be played on the same day. I never had an issue with the US Open semis being on Saturday (before they made the schedule changes) even with the finals the following day because there was no advantage as both matches were played on the same day.

Overall, because the second SF is still 2 days before the Final, it hasn't mattered much. There have been many times when the 2nd SF match went long or 5 sets, and that guy still won the championship.

Like Verdasco-Nadal in 2009. That was 5 sets compared to FED's easy win the day before, but Nadal looked better down the stretch of the Men's Final.

I think it's not as bad as it could be because there's at least 2 days of rest.

If there were less, then it would be a bigger issue.

Send them an email letting them know it's stupid. Thanks

They're good at responding to emails. Remember when you were wondering if tickets to Rod Laver included a grounds pass, during last year's USO?

I emailed the AO and they responded within a day.

not that big a deal to me with the amount of rest that both finalists are guaranteed.

i'd guess the few hours difference between the SF winners at the USO could actually end up being more significant than a guaranteed full day and a half the last SF at the AO gets compared to two and a half.

vandeweghe jerks her head all over the place with her groundstrokes, but especially the forehand. i'm surprised she hasn't hurt herself.

Venus with a shaky first game serving and she loses it.

She then breaks and wins the next service game to get back on serve.

Now it's 4-5 Venus, on serve, late in the 1st.

Vandeweghe with some nice returns in the tiebreaker.

Venus misses too many 1st serves in the tiebreaker.

Vandeweghe wins the 1st set tiebreaker.

also, vandeweghe really tight right now. not accelerating through her groundstrokes anymore. that's nerves. totally understandable.

Venus breaks to start the 3rd.

Vandeweghe not able to hit and control the rallies on her ground strokes in the 3rd.

I think we have the same observations?
