KC could lose a lot of their WS veterans. Detroit lost a lot of veterans - Verlander, JD Martinez, Upton. Sadly, unlike KC, the Tigers do not have a WS pennant to raise over Comerica Park. (The last WS pennant went down with Tiger Stadium)

The advantage the Royals have over the Tigers is - they may have money to spend if they lose Hosmer, Moustakas, and Cain. Detroit is not going to spend big this off season. I hope KC sends some BBQ sauce down to the cellar so the Detroit cellar dwellers can spread some on the mushrooms that grow down there.

Could the Tigers grab 4th place next year? Sure. But it will likely more because some team just fell apart, than it will be that the Tigers played well. My opinion - if Detroit wins 72 games, that should earn Gardenhire a raise.
