Gardenhire said he has a new view of analytics after spending a year with the D'Backs. He said he is much more open to using stat-based decisions. I am sure Avila will have one or two coaches around Gardenhire who are strong in that area. The front office is moving that way...so I am sure Gardenhire is OK with working with a team heading to more of an analytic style. Otherwise, he wouldn't have taken the job.
