Yeah, it's the whole monkey thing.

The best way I can articulate it is...

It's a way of saying blacks are sub-human, less than, inferior.

Dehumanization is the closest word I can think of.
Makes sense now that you explained it like that. Least i know now.

See, now I knew monkey and ape or gorilla is right there with the n word.

But I honestly had never heard that about baboon (although I can see where it would be included). It's not really a term I've ever used, but I've always heard it used to describe someone, especially kids, who are just acting wild.

Guess it's good I've never used it much anyway. Won't miss not saying it anymore.

It's all good, Dude.

Again: When I saw the post, racism didn't even enter my mind.

But, once it was apparent that someone else was offended, I also apologized for rating it funny.

Yeah, I think the first time I can clearly recall someone using it as a slur was with Michelle Obama a few years back.

Or.....maybe it was Ape....

Fuck it, just avoid all primates....lol

All water under the bridge at this point since it seems it really was unintentional.

I understand too, now that i know its used as a racist term. I never fucking knew.

Wow.

That could have gone really badly. I wanted to echo @Mecca kudos on how you resolved this.

Not sure how old you are, but there was a huge ordeal in the mid 90s when CBS basketball announcer Billy Packer called AI a "tough monkey". But yeah, in the past the monkey reference was intentionally used as a knock on the intelligence of black people. I don't think Packer used it intentionally and I am sure you didn't either.

Now, if everyone else in our country can come down from the ledge and listen to the other side's perspective, we might actually make some progress!

Now that is more like it Nets!

That is how you guys need to play every night!

Now, just need about 60 more games just like that. No more beating good teams okay?

Yeah. Did not expect to win that one, but pleased with the effort on the road despite the 4th quarter collapse.

Beal has to learn though. Let a bench player instigate the fight with Green. He is too valuable.

You're a Cleveland fan, I take it?

Hard to understand this post otherwise.

Nope.

But, I was saying all summer that the Nets would still be terrible. If they keep winning that would make me wrong.
The best thing the Nets have going for them is that they have absolutely no reason to tank.... unlike several other teams in the NBA.

I would argue that isn't a good thing, because it means they don't have their pick. And they still aren't actually good. I would much rather have a reason to tank.

Well, yeah... I'm not saying it's good for their organization that they lack their top draft pick next year... rather, I'm suggesting it's good for their W/L column this year... because there is not much good reason to actively tank. Record wise, they might not be truly "terrible."

It's very early but I like what I'm seeing out of the Lakers.

Only lost by 9 to a pretty good Raps team and we have 8 players averaging double figures.....very balanced scoring and a team, not a bunch of guys looking for their own shots and stats.
