A year after dominating San Jose, he struggled in Richmond (like most other prospects did this year), was a 40-man roster casualty because of the mid-season crunch we had. Only ended up pitching 5.2 innings for San Diego's AA, but he'll make his ML debut at some point this September.
Jake Smith was an easy decision for the organization at the time. Biagini was a bit harder. Despite his numbers at AA, the organization felt that other guys (Blach, Crick, Black, Smith, etc.) were more important to proect from the Rule 5 draft.Other teams LOVE our minor league bully castoffs...

I am not second guessing here, because I believe that each of these moves is the right move at the time, but it does sting when guys go on to success in other orgs...
