Definitely. He played for 6 seasons with the Heat and was a huge part of two title teams that went to the Finals for 4 years.

I think she'd even admit that the odds the Clippers win the West are VERY slim. I think I'd rather them make the finals over GSW at this point.

The reality of this market is that compared to some of the other contracts handed out, Wade will still be more productive at 38 making 20M a year, than some of the guys right now who got larger, or similar sized contracts.

Especially, in 3 years when the cap continues to go up....

I agree. The Heat have already said that they'll pay out the remainder of his contract. He's done everything in his career and has $75 million left to him. Not worth the risk.

But, they want to nickel and dime Wade who has played for them forever?

They haven't nickel and dimed him though. They've always paid the man. Wade's going to surpass $200 million in career earnings off his next contract. He still had a 6-year $100 million dollar contract so he could get his friends to come here. He also just made $20 million dollars.

Difference between a team having some players take discounts so they could bring in other quality players in a salary cap then a team not wanting contracts to put them into the luxury tax threshold so they have to pay punitive charges.

Also, Wade's definitely made the money he's earned. He still got paid for all of those games that he got off. Hell, he played 2/3 of a season during the Big 3 era.

Payton and Malone were on the downsides of their careers. They could still play though. If not for Malone injuring his knee, he may have won a chip.
