U will get 3-4 super teams and all the other teams will just be minor league teams for the super teams. U hope your team gets lucky with 2 studs in the draft and then you become a super team where players want to go.

Super teams now: Cavs, GS, Spurs and Clippers(well on paper) I do think talent on Clippers are a little over rated but on paper they have 3-4 guys. The only teams that have a chance to win next year is Spurs, GS and Cavs.

Tanking worked out pretty well for the Spurs...

This is an awful system.

Artificially restricting both salaries and player movement for no good reason.

All you're doing is lining the owners pockets. Which is the ONLY thing a cap really does. Competitive balance from the cap is a proven myth. Thanks to both academic studies and MLB.
Nope disagree BIG time. The system they have now is the worst in History and it has been proven. They need to come up with a pay out structure. 1 max per team and so on and on. Only way you will fix the NBA.

These Ray Allen/Warriors rumors...I mean my God, how much shooting does 1 team need? All they have to do is ask Ray to play 12-15 minutes, hide him on defense(even though he'll be playing against the other teams bench), and then have him just stand at the 3 point line to space the floor on offense.

We need more shooters, we dont have enough shooting

Except that it's already been proven false.

Baseball has more parity than anyone else.

All you are doing is giving the players less money (your system also doesn't gel with the CBA really in that regard).

No clue what you are talking about. Spurs havent tanked in a long time. We are talking about the last couple of years. How super teams are built because of this crap system.

2 different sports. U put 3-4 best players on a baseball team they still dont win it all. NBA has 5 starters and a bench. The super teams have shown this in the last 5-6 years now. The system is bad. If you dont realize that I cant help you.

He's talking about the year the Spurs got Duncan with the #1 pick.

They had a great team already (Robinson, Elliot, etc)... but had a bunch of injuries and finished with a horrible record. That's the year Popovich (GM at that point) fired their coach who had won 55 games the season before and made himself head coach. They were in no hurry to get their injured players back on the court that season and were content watching the L's pile up.

It worked out very well for them.

"injured"

The spurs were telling anyone and everyone Robinson was retiring so they'd get their top pick to replace him.

The Spurs scouting team is just phenomenal

Definitely... but you have to wonder if the Spurs "dynasty" ever happens without tanking that year and getting Duncan.

Players taking less money to join a contender has happened for a long time now.

That's not a problem.

But even if we do play your system you need to allow something that says you can't resign for less than say 20% of your cap hold (lets not get into the fact that cap holds are incredibly stupid).

Popovich gets fired without Duncan. Hell he was one game from getting fired with Duncan and a healthy Admiral.

It was a different system back then. Cant compare the 2 now.

No but it proves that tanking is a bigger problem than players taking less money so they can play with guys they want to play with.

Yes that was a long time ago and 2 different systems. Cant compare the 2. I also did state in my system that only way you become a power team is if you get lucky with 2 studs in the draft and then u become attractive.

I disagree Big time again, just ask Sixers how tanking has helped them. 3 season in a row and no super star. LOL. What about the Lakers.... nothing to really show for.

When you are intentionally picking gus you know won't play for you right away...hard to say.

But now they're starting.

Don't forget the Spurs were a top 4 team in the west before these mystical injuries lead to that year.
