If I were to guess they are using the Lakers as leverage against Boston to get the assets they really want---- but we shall see.

That wouldn't surprise me. If I'm a Cavs fan, I'm praying Butler goes to the Lakers or just stays put. I don't know if Butler catches the Celtics up to the Cavs, but he makes them a lot more dangerous. Especially if the Celts can grab HCA.

Hands Off, Mofos!!!

Greeeeeeeed!

Chris Paul will stay a Clipper
i_1b_99_c0_chris-paul.png

The same is basically true of Chris Paul. He’ll opt out of his final $24.26 million and ink a new deal with the Clippers for north of $200 million. While Knicks fan often dream of a Carmelo Anthony-Paul tandem, it’s not going to happen. Sources close to the process said that it’s already been verbally agreed to and it’s simply a function of the calendar and the new Collective Bargaining Agreement kicking in.

Like teammate Chris Paul, Griffin’s next deal is all but done. One executive who tried to engage with the Clippers on a Griffin package got absolutely nowhere, saying it was not a conversation the Clippers were willing to have.

Wonder if it was Ainge engaging the Clips.

I don't think Chicago is really all that interested in moving him.

So he'll be making north of $40 million at the age of 37? This new CBA is going to be crazy.

Hard to say. There are definitely rumors out there that the Bulls are at least listening to offers. The Bulls need to rebuild, but they have to decide if they want to try to rebuild around Butler, or if they want to strip it down to the foundation and rebuild.

It may well be that if someone is willing to make them a great offer they will go with the full rebuild and if not, they will look to rebuild around Butler. They definitely aren't going to just give him up for spare parts though. If they move him, I expect it will take some combination of young players and draft picks.

If the Bulls do move him and it's not to the Lakers, I hope he goes to the Celtics (as a Lakers fan, I just threw up a little lol). That could make the Eastern Conference playoffs a lot more interesting.

How many wins was he averaging without James?
I love how you try to use Whitesides stats against him, saying they were meaningless because of record (although Heat was 1 win from ECF minus Bosh), but want to talk up about anything Tristan did as a positive before James.

If they didn't have other offensive players so TT could just focus on his limited role -- it would be stupid to pay him this much. But that isn't the situation. Similar with JR -- who sucks unless he just plays his jumpshooting and defensive role.

he makes 16.4M a year----- 5/82- and he CAN switch defensively and is a huge asset in the open space of the new NBA- NEVER misses a game, and has the best work ethic i have seen this side of LeBron James. The Cavs dont win the Finals without him- AND he is the Cavs 4th best player.

If Whiteside was his teams 4th best player and made 16 a year- that is a LOT more palatable

but it wouldnt change the fact he cant shoot, cant pass, cant switch defensively and will always have to be babysat.

do you think you would ever hear Tristan Thompson say, after a humiliating loss, basically- -"its not my fault- i covered my guy". lol.

NO, because reporters don't give a shit about trying to interview Tristan.

Agree.
Tristan can thrive because of his situation.
MANY others have had the same type of success playing with James.
Subtract James though and those players are pretty much garbage.

Haha. I would like to have him as long as the cost is fair. They're gonna want a lot for him (as they should), but if we're going to part with Nets picks, I don't want to also strip away too much of the core. I feel that could be counterproductive.

If the C's do get Butler... what they would have is great defensive options against both Kyrie (Bradley and Smart can defend) and LeBron (Crowder and Butler can defend).

No one is stopping Kyrie and LeBron completely... but the C's would seemingly be in the best place in the league to try and slow those 2 down.

Yep.

I have been on the fence about him staying.

But, the difference in the Clippers play , with , and without him is ridiculous.

The guy is that good.

But, his contract will be utter Shiite in 2 Seasons...lol

I love Chris Paul. I think he elevates every player on his team -- that's what you want out of a point guard. I just don't know how good he'll be at 37 . . . but the Clippers need him.

Well, guys like Griffin and Paul benefit from staying.

But, I don't think that's the case with Boogie anymore.

So, guys that aren't going to get the Super Max or designated player could still bolt.
