TT makes $80-$85 million. Try again.
he makes 16.4M a year----- 5/82- and he CAN switch defensively and is a huge asset in the open space of the new NBA- NEVER misses a game, and has the best work ethic i have seen this side of LeBron James. The Cavs dont win the Finals without him- AND he is the Cavs 4th best player.

If Whiteside was his teams 4th best player and made 16 a year- that is a LOT more palatable

but it wouldnt change the fact he cant shoot, cant pass, cant switch defensively and will always have to be babysat.

do you think you would ever hear Tristan Thompson say, after a humiliating loss, basically- -"its not my fault- i covered my guy". lol.

One center is traded (mainly because of his attitude) and all of sudden you can get centers no problem on the trade market? LOL and it's not like the Pelicans gave up nothing. They gave up 2 first round picks and a solid player in Evans.
One center?
one center is traded? lol

Hes a role player who can thrive because of James.
MANY others also have.
Im not saying it isnt working out, because obviously they won, but if/when James
is gone then TT will be totally irrelevant.

Golden State has done very well over the last couple seasons, but why is it now a foregone conclusion that their style is the only way to win?

First of all, they lost last year. And, in my opinion, it was primarily because they had no depth at center and Bogut went down.

Second of all, how many teams have the cap flexibility to do what Golden State has done? They bought low on Steph Curry a couple years ago, drafted Draymond in the 2nd round and kept him for cheap until last season, have Klay on a fairly team-friendly contract, and were able to bring in one of the top 5 players in the league as a result of their cap situation. Their cap situation allowed them to sign great utility players like Iguodala and Livingston. But who else can do that? Eventually, their model will be unsustainable and they'll have to let their depth move on (which they've already done to an extent) and/or let one of their top players move on. And then how will their smaller lineup work? They have a great thing going -- but I think they will eventually seem less invincible than they do now.

What this illustrates, to me, is that signing really good players to reasonable contracts and giving yourself cap flexibility is how you win. You can win with a team centered around big men still -- but you need to be able to complement them with good players.

Just my opinion.

How many of those centers are in the same category as Cousins? Are we really talking about role players getting traded? Seriously. Role players at EVERY position get traded every year. Expect to see a lot more by Thursday.

Looking at this ^ list of stiffs ^... damn, I wish I was 7 feet tall.

Sure... I'd probably die younger... but there are guaranteed millions in the world of B-ball if you are tall.

How many wins was he averaging without James?

I love how you try to use Whitesides stats against him, saying they were meaningless because of record (although Heat was 1 win from ECF minus Bosh), but want to talk up about anything Tristan did as a positive before James.

Exactly it is just so incredibly stupid. Does it mean guards are on the market because Ross, Evans, & Grant were traded this year? See how stupid that sounds.

Hands Off, Mofos!!!

Greeeeeeeed!

Chris Paul will stay a Clipper
i_1b_99_c0_chris-paul.png

The same is basically true of Chris Paul. He’ll opt out of his final $24.26 million and ink a new deal with the Clippers for north of $200 million. While Knicks fan often dream of a Carmelo Anthony-Paul tandem, it’s not going to happen. Sources close to the process said that it’s already been verbally agreed to and it’s simply a function of the calendar and the new Collective Bargaining Agreement kicking in.

Like teammate Chris Paul, Griffin’s next deal is all but done. One executive who tried to engage with the Clippers on a Griffin package got absolutely nowhere, saying it was not a conversation the Clippers were willing to have.
