Win what?
Heat was 1 win short of ECF with Whiteside minus Bosh.
But, no, if he's your best player, you aren't winning a title.

Not sure what your point is because nobody said he could ever lead a team to a title.

As we all see, you have stars colliding lead by a mega star, which aren't just floating freely around.

Whiteside is a stud NBA player though and will make any team he is on that much better.
i dont think he could/should even be your 2nd or third

i think the main problem is- if you have 25M - a quarter of your cap- commited to a center who cant pass and cant shoot- your whole roster is going to be skewed.

How can you build a team in todays NBA with a center that can pass and cant shoot when you are devoting a quarter of your payroll to him? When you sign that guy to that deal- it determines a way you are going to play.

There is a reason why just about every single team in the league is looking to get smaller, and better shooters--- why you have seen NO pgs and wings traded that are good players while TONS of centers are getting traded or are on the block.

Miami is practically the only team in the league that seems content to get bigger and slower while the game passes them by.

starting next summer the Heat will have about 62 million of a 104 million dollar payroll in 3 guys- Johnson, Whiteside, and Dragic.

62M and you dont have a 1 or a 2- and the minimum draft assets practically allowable until the next presidential election.

Watch them play.
Dragic/Waiters are far from slow, and are getting into pretty good rhythm with Whiteside.
Often teams are forced to pick their poison.
Our 3 point shooting is prob above average now.

I certainly had no hope or expectorations for this group, but the last month IMO isn't a fluke.
Let's just see how it plays out.

Miami is getting bigger and slower how? Is it a crime to have a Center on your team? This is actually a very small team outside of Whiteside and Reed.

Heat has there 1 this summer
Not sure about 2.

Still also have Winslow and Richardson cheap.

Again, nobody has disputed that this winning has made upcoming decisions harder.

Heat fans trust Riley.
Its as simple as that.

its not a crime- but i think its dumb to commit a quarter of your payroll to a center that cant pass or shoot or switch onto a smaller player- in a league where spacing and shooting is increasingly important.

Do you think its a coincedence that you can get a center no problem on the trade market right now?--- That guys like Cousins and Drummond would bring you a PITTANCE compared to a Butler or a George.

The most valuable guys in the NBA are guys that can switch on defense, that can hit a 3, that can run.

the least valuable? centers that cant shoot, cant pass, and clog up the middle and cant switch defensively.

Praying for a Pelicans/Warriors matchup. I just want to see how Golden State would handle Cousins/Davis.

If teams shy away from Cousins, its not because of talent, so please stop with that.
A few months ago, you claimed Drummond was a franchise type player. We told you he wasn't.
Whiteside already was a better player the him, and still improving.

You can point out your perceived flaws of Whiteside, which are exaggerated, but you conveniently leave out the mismatches he causes with his strengths.

There will always be a place in the game for players like him, and to get them, you have to pay.

There were many bad signings last summer.
He wasn't one of them.

One center is traded (mainly because of his attitude) and all of sudden you can get centers no problem on the trade market? LOL and it's not like the Pelicans gave up nothing. They gave up 2 first round picks and a solid player in Evans.

I think we get it most likely.

Unless Portland gets its act together, yeah, I'd imagine the Cousins trade propels the Pelicans into the 8 spot. Then again, Portland/Golden State and Denver/Golden State could theoretically be fun games to watch.

I'm really looking forward to watching their first game thursday against Houston.

do you think a team can actually win in the NBA with Whiteside as its #1 or #2 player?

do you think its a good idea to shackle your team to a guy taking up a quarter of your payroll who cant shoot, and cant pass- in a league where practically every team is trying to get smaller- trying to space the floor more- trying to run more?

This isnt the 90's where Rileys brand of ugly-muck-it-up basketball made for one of the most putrid era's in NBA basketball history- its like he still thinks its the 90's--- low scoring teams- dont score many points, dont give up many points, a center that cant shoot, cant pass...low scoring- mediocre to bad three point shooting

this is just a TERRIBLE way to build a team in todays NBA- not only that- but its hideous basketball to watch.

TT makes $80-$85 million. Try again.

Bad attitude, perceived as a child, locker room cancer + 200+M = Time to move on.

Wiggy acts like his talent isn't EMMENCE when he's got his shit together.

That's why I would have been OK with Heat getting him (not saying we could have), but I'm pretty sure he would have got his shit together under the Heat regime.
