Got the final I predicted. Fed has a real shot here. I think he needs his best tennis. The changes he has made have proven valuable as he has cruised into the finals. That will also make a difference in that his 34 year old legs will be fresh. It is Nole though so Fed will be the underdog.

The women have 2 players not even in the top 25. That could be a first. I am sure Liberal Icunt will be here soon saying how competitive the womens game is though. The 2 Italians will probably have the lowest view ratings ever.

you'll be able to predict the men's winner by the number of backhands fed is forced to hit in the first set

if it's a lot, the odds are very slim of him winning

if he can run around the backhand and still be able to cover the wide open deuce court he'll give up, he could win.

the most attackable part of nole's game is his 2nd serve. hope to see some SABR going on with that.

I told you guys Halep was a mess physically. I am surprised she lasted this long.

She was pretty beat up before. The biggest difference was she looked completely drained (physically and emotionally) yesterday.

I didn't see Kvitova losing. No way no how.

But she did.

Next up are 2 of my least favourite players, Azarenka and Halep.

Kvitova's shots seemed only 70% as hard as i was expecting. Seemed a bit slow for some reason.

Honestly, anybody who didn't predict some sort of rub-out for the Swiss duo hadn't been watching.

But up here, TSN with all of it's 5 fucking channels managed to get disconnected from cable company info board on PVRs used for programming and I missed most of both matches.

Sunamabitch.....

:(

kvitova has had a terrible bout of mono, and is just now at a point where she can even practice at full strength. she did pretty well all things considered.

Serena Williams quest for the 2015 CALENDAR GRAND SLAM ends at the hands of Roberta Vinci in the SF.

Vinci was a 300 : 1 odds underdog.

Vinci did a good job of moving Serena around, and changing speeds a little. Serena also had a lot of bad returns (not in play; not doing anything).

Vinci got the break at 3 all and held 2 service games to win 6-4.

She tried to just focus on the points, and not on Serena.

Got the final I predicted.

Me too. I think it's my first pre-tourney predicted Men's Finals since the 2014 AO.

But in that pre-tourney prediction, I had Nadal over Wawrinka in the Finals.

Oh, thanks.

I was wondering what could have affected her shots, as there isn't much wind as a factor anymore.

So I guess cezero isn't going to watch the Women's Finals.

I don't care about the ratings. Will be interesting to see 2 players who mix speeds and can play from all parts of the courts. Their lack of a specific strength but general all-around game will make it unpredictable, but in a good way.

I think Pennetta will win, but can't give any real reason, as I've only seen her a few times before.

I don't have a preference for who wins, as they're both interesting stories and kudos for them for getting here.

The thread somebody started about Serena being out will be disgusting. I won't look at it once.

I read it. It's not worth anyone's time.

So Penneta or however you spell it won, and just announced her retirement from pro tennis.

Here's what the evil Serena had to say:

Flavia Pennetta wins the 2015 US Open.

1st set was a tiebreaker.

Pennetta was up 2 breaks in the 2nd, and held on to win.

She is the oldest person to win her first major. It took her 49 majors to do so, which is another record.

She also announced her retirement!

Pennetta was better from the baseline. Vinci was better at using drop shots and low slices, and bringing Pennetta in.

But, Pennetta was more efficient at net points.

This was a nice match both because of the sportsmanship and how two friends who have known each other since they were 9 were in the Finals, but also because of how classy they were. And they were having fun.

As for the tennis, they just had different styles from most other players. Vinci uses one hand, so she would mix in slices with top spin, although she used a backhand slice a lot more.

Pennetta preferred the baseline. But if she had to come in, she was good at the net too.

Neither were bad or awkward at the net, and knew what they were doing. You wouldn't see unforced errors at the net, only winners.

Pennetta's fiance Fabio Fognini skipped his Davis Cup match in Siberia to be with Pennetta.

Vinci didn't have many people in her box, so she asked the credential checkers to come. They couldn't come because they couldn't show favoritism.

Neither set of parents came, partly out of superstition.
