He's not in THAT big of a decline but they won't get more than two NHL quality years out of him.

That's possible. I dont figure he'll be 37 and playing 22 mins/gm. But if he plays 22, then 21, then 20, then 18, I am happy with it at 4M per. I like his PK potential as I see that as a hugely important key area where the sharks needed help. Dillon, Mueller, hannan, and burns sucked on the PK. Vlasic and Braun can play it, but that's only half the time. Now they have a 3rd Dman who can play big PK mins. I expect this will be a great move at least for a couple years. If he sucks the last two years of the deal, so be it. wasting 4M is cap spae would suck, but wouldnt kill em...

Just saw 19.4M Fuck. Basically 5M per. That's a little steep to me. Hes worth 5 this year, and next, but only 4 or 3 in the last two years. Seems like .5-1M per year overpay.

Still have about 5M in cap space left... no chance on a guy like franson or green. Maybe still a chance for another depth signing as they still have just 6 Dmen right now, so they have to find another one. Could be irwin back or some other depth guy.

Shattenkirk would be incredible, but for what? he's an elite defenseman at a very low cost for two years, and would be easily extendable and good for 5+ more. Not sure what it would take to get him, but it would sure be spectacular. I would deal Mueller+Nieto+2nd rounder for him in a flash. I know that would hurt, but their forward prospect depth is great so losing nieto wouldnt be that bad and Mueller is project and may eventually be good, but shattenkirk is a stud. Their D would instantly jump from poor last year to one of the best in the league with Burns, Shattenkirk, vlasic, martin, braun and dillon as atop 6. wowsers...

It would probaby be a trade based around Shattenkirk for Couture.
