Hindsight is 20/20.

But, you also have to remember the Kings, as an Organization, despise the Lakers dating back to the CWebb\ Vlade days.

* not as much as they currently hate the Clippers*

Who's to say they were willing to do business with them?

Remember: most Teams don't help division rivals.

Exactly. We don't work in the front offices, so we don't know what trade opportunities may have been out there.

Are you 2 infidels daring to question whether or not Wiggy has his finger on the pulse of every NBA front office and that he is smarter than every NBA GM?

It's retro night in Charlotte. Mourning, Mugsy, and Grandmama are playing for the Hornets.

It would be hard to come up with a retro night and pick a year when Charlotte was better than the Bulls.

Not.
You think a vet minimum flyer is the same as 2 yr 24M, with 6M guaranteed for 1st half of 1st season?

I get a kick out of guys like this who are really concerned about Dan Gilbert's budget.

Nothing to do with that.
You said what the Heat did was the same, which is totally incorrect.

The offer just showed Gilbert and the Cavs FO were inept.
I believe Bynum flunked other teams physicals, etc.

Gilbert thought Bynum would improve the team, if not, why guarantee him 6M for a few months work?

Heat hoped the players they signed for the minimum might make a difference. If not, no harm no foul because you have to fill the roster with somebody.

Am I completely crazy for thinking that by the end of the season... the bottom 4 playoff teams in the east might be stronger than the bottom 4 in the west?

Obviously the top 4 in the west are WAY stronger than whoever the top 4 in the east turn out to be.

But with the way Houston, Memphis, New Orleans, Portland, Phoenix, Dallas, etc are looking.... the west might have all of its punch in its top 4 teams.

The East isn't nearly as strong at the top... but could produce 8 or 9 quality teams, IMO.

The Cavs are gonna break the Bulls record for most wins?

They are down big to the Knicks.

again this just shows how you are playing checkers instead of chess and really have no clue.

So- you are right about Bynums deal- 2 years 24- BUT only 6 million guaranteed until January.

That january deadline effectively created a 2nd trade deadline for the Cavs.

Of course as history showed us- Bynum was never coming back from his injuries- but the previous season the Sixers gave up a bunch to get him because despite having knee injuries most of his life he was a young 7 footer with all star talent.

So the Cavs take a flier on a guy- it doesnt work out- what do they have left? a trade chip that operated just as the haywood deal would have operated.

The Bulls have Derrick Rose go down with an injury and are clearly not contenders- however- the Bulls had pushed their salary past where they usually would gearing up for that season. They find themselves out of it.

"Waiving Bynum will save the Bulls from paying the non-guaranteed $6.3 million owed to him for the rest of the season, and it also should take them out of the luxury-tax territory this season, offering significant savings that could top $10 million. Bulls fans will lament the departure of a franchise cornerstone for financial reasons, and rightfully so, as there's no dodging the emotions wrapped up in a decade-long relationship between player and community."

the Cavs leveraged Bynum's 6 million dollars of Bynum into trading for Luol Deng- the first round pick in the deal was one from Sacaremnto that was a CONDITIONAL FIRST ROUND PICK THAT NEVER BECAME A FIRST ROUND PICK.

So- as had happened NUMEROUS times before- the Cleveland GM gets creative with a contract for Bynum- structuring it in a way where even if Bynum is a disaster his CONTRACT is still an asset. The Cavs use that contract- and a conditional first round pick received from the Kings in the Hickson deal to get Luol Deng.

Luol Deng had been an All Star the previous two seasons- and the Cavs got him for Bynums contract and a first rounder that never became a first rounder. WHy? Because Dan Gilbert will spend where other owners wont.

It just so happened that Luol Deng was cooked from getting run into the ground by Thibs for years and was no longer an all star player or a guy who could be the 2nd or 3rd guy on a good team.

But to think that the Cavs were able to acquire a guy who was coming off back to back all stars seasons with Bynum and a crappy Kings first rounder that never even became a first rounder is YET ANOTHER EXAMPLE of the Cavs Front Office executing on a level that many other teams are simply not on and Dan Gilbert demonstrating his unwavering ability to spend what it takes to try and win.

Haha LeBron just ripped the sleeves on his jersey. Awesome! Those sleeves are so stupid. Basically flipping of the NBA.

I said it-

why just leave your cap room open? rent it out to other teams and get some assets....just an example is that Kings/Sixers deal.

I mean shit- Jason Thompson is probably a better player than Brandon Bass- so you tie up like 6-7 million in cap room next year? Shit- at hte trade deadline if you would give Thompson some playing time and he shows something you might even be able to unload him in his walk year and get another 2nd rounder or something.

It just shows that some teams are willing to be creative and spend on "problem" players in order to acquire assets to hasten their rebuilding process.

I don't care how much of a homer you might be. To think the Cavs will ever go 73-9 is delusional. I mean we already knew you were delusional and never think you're wrong, but that's just going too far. Like I said before...you're the absolute worst kind of NBA fan.

that was pretty nasty- hes 7 foot 3? GEEZUS....i thought that was in the cylinder at first but it was legit on replay
He dunked on Aldridge a few nights ago.

You've mentioned the Haywood contract 100000x over 2 seasons.
Did I miss something or didn't Gilbert not use it on Joe Johnson because of what the tax hit would have been?

Porzingis is a lot more developed than most of the experts thought. I thought the Knicks were crazy for taking him so soon.
