Pitch was outside the announcer said. LOL! That must be why the hitter lifted his elbows up to bait the pitch as being inside to the umpire.

Darvish, Rangers haven't ruled out third opinion on elbow | texasrangers.com

Darvish is in New York today, where he is slated to be evaluated by Dr. David Altcheck. Should Altcheck's findings conflict with those of team orthopedist Keith Meister, there could be a delay before the Rangers know exactly how they'll handle the situation. Darvish, who complained of tightness last Thursday, could be headed for Tommy John surgery -- or at least a few months of rest and rehab.

Chi Chi starts making case for Opening Day rotation | texasrangers.com

Taken by the Rangers with the 23rd overall pick in the 2013 Draft, Gonzalez has always been a promising prospect with a solid fastball/slider mix and now a changeup. He can have a bit of a tendency to overthrow -- as may have been the case with his three walks on Monday -- but that's a common issue for young pitchers.

Case in point: With a runner on third base, Gonzalez was set to face A's cleanup man Stephen Vogt. Sensing an instance of Gonzalez's youth potentially being served, Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux trotted out to the mound for a chat.

Maddux asked Gonzalez point blank what pitch he was about to throw, and why. (Remember: cleanup hitter at the plate, empty base at first.)

"I told him, I'm going to go right after him, throw him a fastball," Gonzalez said.

Maddux calmed Gonzalez down and told him to trust the offspeed stuff, while keeping the pitches tough to hit. Sure enough, Vogt tapped weakly to second, before Mark Canha popped out to right.

Gonzalez returned to the dugout, his day finished, and was greeted by a Maddux handshake.

Sounds like they are wanting to avoid surgery. Keep getting enough opinions and someone will not recommend it.:hope:

Darvish already had his rest period last season when we shut him down. Do the damn surgery already. :gaah:

I think they are wanting to get two doctors to agree. If the second one agrees with the first then it sounds like they will go with the surgery. If the first 2 disagree then they will seek a third doctor for a tie breaker.

Romeo, is the platelet-rich plasma therapy that they mentioned something that has been tried in the past with this type of injury?

Daniels just announced the final decision on Darvish's surgery, or lack thereof, will be made later this week.

But all indications are the doc in NY gave the basic same opinion as the first evaluation.

I just want the season to begin. With Darvish gone, this season becomes mainly about keeping guys healthy and hoping to see injured guys bounce back well. I hope we're at least competitive for most of the season. At least Oakland changed most of their team around. No Donaldson or Moss to hit HRs on us.

I honestly don't care what happens the rest of spring as long as we stay healthy for the rest of ST. No more damn injuries or set backs.

I really do not understand their holdup on committing to saying Yu will have surgery. Delaying it does not make the problem go away.
