I've been saying Vernon is the best TE in the NFL for years now, and I think he'd get like 1500 yards if he were on the Patriots.

Davis' strength is straight line speed, or a wheelhouse route. do the Patriots call enough of these routes?

not to exaggerate or imply he can ONLY sprint downfield, but don't think he's as good running "precise" routes. if you ask Davis to run routes (cutting/juking/finding holes) all game, have to wonder if he'll be consistent enough?

He's been very good in the red zone, which is not an area where speed alone is all that much of an asset. Davis has made tremendous strides in terms of route-running and hands. He's not at the top of the list in either area, but combined with his incredible physical talents, he is more than good enough to be effective all over the field, as he has been.

Prior to quarterback Colin Kaepernick taking control of the offense, Davis hardly got the ball down-field from quarterback Alex Smith.

Just can't agree with that. The one deep ball Smith consistently threw really well was the deep seam pass to Davis.

hmm, ok it wasn't the very last sentence. :-)

was referring to this one ...."Vernon’s main goal is to build his brand and there is no better way to do that than by playing for a Super Bowl contender"

So isn't he almost saying that we have overpaid him for the last 8 years? If now finally his stats and talent prove that he is a top TE?

Cause if that was the case I would look to sign him for one mil a yr for the next 4 years to average out when he was overpaid and then underpaid.. (Just kidding of course)

I also would have no qualms trading him for a first and fourth this yr, 2nd next yr. Potentially to an AFC team?

Priority #1 should be extending Culliver's deal IMO. There was an article saying the Niners were in talks with him to extend his deal, but that was before the brass-knuckles incident.

Anybody go to the legends game?

Looks like it was a 'goodin.

Thought about trying to get last-minute tix, but just couldn't justify spending $80 for me and the wife to go to a flag football game, even if it was the 'stick's last.

I watched highlights of the game last night. It was amazing watching both Montana and Young still lobbing passes and hitting guys right on the money.
