Who? Jeff Samardzija?

I don't think you want him. He's asking big money, and quite frankly, he should have stuck to football.
That's the guy. Thanks not interested then. There's enough of those around, pitchers asking for big money.

Don't get me wrong, he's got a great heater. And is lights out when he's on.

But he's way to inconsistent. And he's asking for ace like money. He's a #3 or #4 starter at best if you ask me. And we're asking for a lot in return for him.

It just seems odd that he says he's going to the rangers and then he will wait this long
Thanks for the info, Terps. You have to wonder what info is Boras feeding Choo. What's to be gained? I am sure he has to Feb. to make a decision.

Wouldn't it be something if we resigned Cruz and just moved on and Choo would have to take his 2nd most desirable option?

I would be ok with that. We need one of them, and preferably a DH, but I think JD is fine with Choice and Moreland at DH next year.

If Martin would lay off the inside pitch that's off the plate he COULD be a good lead -off hitter. Until he learns to do that he will never fulfill his potential. He gets jammed way to much.

But he's not now, it still creates a situation where runs will be difficult to come by b/c the leadoff guy isn't on the bases enough in front of the big guys

Looking at his last two years and the addition of Fielder it's hard seeing Moreland as much more than a bench bat or late inning replacement player and even the late inning role seems like a stretch.

Not based on what they were discussing above... If you roll with Martin and sign Cruz instead, runs are still going to be hard to come by b/c the leadoff guy is only getting on 31% of the time

Yeah I know I'm just hoping we magically get both like what terps said. That the plan was to get both. I guess it's up to choo first.

He was my favorite player and was a great leader off the field too. Damn, I loved his arm. He could just about pitch from RF.

I was a little boy when he died and I cried my heart out.

His technique at the plate was crazy but he made contact. I talk to my sons all the tome about how great of a player he was.

I disagree. There's still some potential there. He was killing the ball when he got hurt last year.

I agree. My point was we need one of them. Would you rather have Martin leading off with Choice in LF, or Martin leading off with Cruz in LF and the 5 hole?

I know you would rather have Choo, and so would I. We need one of them, and I will live with either. The game JD is playing better work to our favor or next year will be a lost cause.

I think he's smart actually. He will easily trump his career earnings in baseball over football. He can be a meh player and still make more than a great WR or TE.
