After inking Rodney, the Mariners are "all in" and are "cautiously optimistic" that they will land outfielder Nelson Cruz. Seattle has been talking with Cruz and is willing to give him multiple years.
Perhaps you're on to something here sir. hahaha For some reason, I just remember Baker being a nice rotation piece at various positions, and a very good bat against one side. But considering what he signed for, I may be one-of-one who had him on any kind of pedestal. So this said, you're right, he was thinking correctly in jumping on 2 years and let the history write itself.

Jack Z is going yolo this offseason.
With a bunch of bad contracts IMO. The Cruz one will be bad, and I don't even like paying Rodney 2/14.
Well You don't 'yolo' by making prudent decisions.
Jack Z is dogshit as a GM. I Schadenfreuded the hell out of that article bashing the Mariners FO. Saying that JZ lied about being saber savvy to get the job, but really knows nothing of advanced metrics.

#6 Organization bro!!!
I think whoever gets Cruz at this point, is going to get a bargain. I'm pretty confident he still has a at least 3 years good years in him and he was having great season last year despite all the turmoil. The only exception to this might be the M's though. Historically he just hasn't played well at Safeco and though I think he will do a little better with the fences in, I don;t think he will be able to put up the numbers there that he could somewhere else.
Seattle needs to develop offensive talent. They have some really talented young arms though.

What do you mean by this?
I wouldn't consider having to give up a pick and a 2-3 year deal for at 10+ a year a bargain. Especially for a player who doesn't even want to be in Seattle (just my opinion). I wanted Cruz back as soon as the season was over, but as the DH. He will have trouble in that OF.
If he will take 2-3 years and $20-$30M… we better swoop in and scoop him up for that, thats nothing. We paid $10M for Berkman last year and Cruz can actually still play.
I think you're right. JD is not the kind to live in the past. This year is all that matters.I would still like Cruz, but I've kind of given up. I think JD is going to give it to Mitch. JD is ready to move on from the WS team. Well, most of them.
