I'm wondering if you were saying the same thing about Chris Davis before we shipped him to Baltimore. Mitch is going to be a .280/30/100 left handed stick before his career is over. Bank on it

I get what you're saying, but Davis would've never put it together in Texas.

I understand. But I say again.....low cost, high reward. Ogando got his start as a pitcher this way, and Gallaraga may be just the student the Maddux's are looking for. haha

Was always a Mendoza and Galarraga fan watching them for Frisco ... Armando gets a September 2007 call up from AA along with Mendoza taking them away from the TEX League championships ... gets 8IP for TEX ... then DFA'd as I said to make room for Jennings ... and then Galarraga goes out and makes DET's rotation in 2008 makes 28GS and throws 178.2IP ... and comes in #4 in ROY ballot.

Kind of ironic TEX signed him back. Glad they are giving him another shot.

For some strange reason, the front office seems determined to give Moreland a lot of ABs this year. The guy has shown no indication that he will reward their faith in him. His last few years have been atrocious, and he usually gets his extra base hits when the game is lopsided in the rangers favor or they are way behind. It's a head scratcher for me, I think they are making a big mistake. Getting Morales would move Rios down to 6, where he's a more natural fit. Who knows? I'm not the GM. I'm prepared to eat crow if Moreland plays well and the lineup produces. Moreland, Soto, Martin, and Profar seems like a weak back end to the line up judging by last years performances.

I've been saying some of the same things for awhile. I've just kind of given up on the idea that we're bringing in a DH.

Question is, why hasn't this guy been able to stick anywhere since then?

Just hope Mitch stays healthy all year.

Yeah, we get it. For the millionth time. We know you don't like Mitch. Move the fuck on.

If you're talking about me you're wrong. I have always been a big Mitch supporter, but more as a 1B. I know he's capable, but he's got to stay away from the extended slumps. Hopefully he starts off the year hitting the ball like he was before he got hurt. I still think a RH bat like Baker is a good idea.

I think this is sort of cliche to say, I had caught myself saying it too but we really have no idea how he would have done if he stayed. I think Davis said this himself when he was asked about it last year though. So, I suppose if he really had that in his head- perhaps there might be some truth to it.

Romeo is right.... Davis was mindfucked by playing here. He could never truly focus on his game. The change of scenery is the best thing that ever happened to him.

First of all I am glad he has command because before he was more of a thrower and really had no idea where the ball would end up. And it sounds like he may have turned the corner mentally. That was another issue with him in the past. The time off may have helped to mature him some.

I would think a major surgery would put things in perspective a bit and some growth and maturity would probably come with it. Plus the young man is now 2 years older, I'm hoping for good things for sure

If Davis had it in his head that was the case then I suppose he and the many others that have said it (including myself) are correct but there really is no way of knowing what would have became of him if we didn't trade him- simply because we did. It just seems like many times in pro-sports we all as fans like to say/believe what makes our situation with our team more acceptable which sometimes involves interpreting assumed outcomes of hypothetical situations as fact.

We gave Davis so many chances here. His success in Baltimore due to a change in scenery is the only rationale a logically thinking fan can come up with for his success. It wasn't going to work here.

I watched a SC interview with CD last year around AS break time, and he said that he attributed his success on the change of scenery and the opportunity to relax and play somewhere other than 2 and a half hours from his hometown. It may have ultimately all come together for him if he had stayed in Texas, but I tend to believe he may have been pressing even more with the guys he had playing around him at the time.

Weird that the gif was of the top of the 8th though.
Haha... I saw that too... was trying to think of a time where he pitched for us in the 8th.

Didn't even notice that, but now that you pointed it out it is a bit weird
