The Lakers have already stated they are bringing back Marshall and Nash. The former makes sense, the latter doesn't because his body just won't let him play any longer. I see Farmar, Johnson, Henry, Meeks, Bazemore, Hill, Kelly, and Young to be on that bring-back list as well. Kaman is iffy. Pau and Kobe could go either way depending on a number of factors.

This roster has plenty of good talent that can only get better which takes the pressure off the draft. And with Exum threatening to sit a year, he and Love show-up in '15 and we have a pretty darn good young team go forward. So, things don't look as bleak as everyone now believes.

It's not the roster that's the problem. Sure, they're not potential world champs, but it's the coach and the system that's bringing us down.

How many times have we allowed over 130 points per game? How many points are scored in the paint because D'Antonis D allows big men to penetrate the key with ease?

New coach, a star player and we're good to go!

Yahoo sports is reporting that the Lakers are 55-45 in favor of retaining Don'tknowi. This is at the risk of potentially pissing-off Kobe according to the article. I am not sure that Yahoo Sports is very reputable but their article does bring to light the notion that Kobe may be the one shown the door if he continues his insistance on winning now and removing Don'tknowi.

Looks like the original report was from Sports Illustrated, so it's fairly suspect. I find it interesting that the article talks about Kobe not wanting to play for D'Antoni, yet there don't seem to be any quotes where Kobe says that.

Are these writers making assumptions or is Kobe putting it out there through "sources"? If it's coming from Kobe through "sources", then he needs to stfu and quit adding to the problem. If not, then it's just the press being the press and looking for a story.

Here's an interesting take on whether or not the Lakers should keep D'Antoni:

The Case for LA Lakers Keeping Mike D'Antoni | Bleacher Report

The guy makes some solid points re: how some of the young players that the Lakers have, have developed under him.

I was one of the few that was mildly excited when D'antoni was hired. If he stays, so be it but I just want the team to play some fucking defence. Injured squad or not, there's no excuse for giving up 130+ points night after night.

That is the key issue that needs to be addressed in the off season.

I'm pretty sure it will be, one way or another. Defense is actually much harder than offense when a team has as many different lineups as the Lakers have had.

The Lakers weren't exactly going to be the Bulls or Pacers defensively even if they had been 100% all season, but they could have been a middle of the pack team defensively and that would have made a huge difference.

They won't be helping themselves by letting Nick Young and Jordon Hill walk as is now being reported. What was a common factor of players wanting to play for the Lakers is fast becoming the notion of looking elsewhere. All the losing aside, that team chemistry that was this team is rapidly disintegrating and then next year will look similar to this year and KLove will be just like Kobe. He'll want no part of this train-wreck.

In other news: ESPN ranks D'Antoni higher than B.Shaw

ESPN Forecast: 2014 NBA front-office rankings - Coaches - ESPN

It makes a certain amount of sense when considering where the teams were expected to finish at the beginning of the season. As the article I linked points out, if you change the expectations on D'Antoni from contending for a title (which the Lakers simply weren't going to do this year even if they were healthy) to developing young talent, D'Antoni has done a very good job.

Denver was expected to make some noise in the playoffs and are sitting on the #11 seed in the West.

I haven't read where they are letting them walk. I'm sure they would like both to come back, but at the right price. Hill wants to be back but only with a greater role. I'm positive Swaggy wants to remain a Laker.

I think the Lakers will be able to get Young for less than market value, just not sure what his market value will end up being. This will be an interesting off-season seeing what level of salaries are doled out under this more restrictive CBA.

Well, D'Antoni certainly didn't develop the young players on the defensive side of the ball, which is just plain lousy coaching.

The D'Antoni brand equals no playoffs and certainly no championships. The Lakers need to accept reality and find a coach who understands ALL aspects of the game.

You have to try to lose to them. When Detroit lost, it was off a back to back and Brandon Jennings got himself tossed in the 1st quarter.

Thats because he's never been a defensive coach. Why this clown was hired I do not know. Jeannie is gonna let her dumbass brother run this organization right into the fucking ground.
