Looks like it will be Aaron Gordon or Marcus Smart in our future.

And you know what really sucks is that I just saw a mock draft where it had us picking 6th and Boston 5th.

Boston took Exum right before us. Not only may we lose him now, but we may lose him to the flipping Celtics.

Nothing is set in stone. In fact, the last time the worst team in the league got the #1 pick was back in 2004 - TEN years ago.

The Clippers got in in 2011 with the 8th worst (traded to the Cavs) and the Bulls got it back in 2008 with the 9th worst.

I think we're still in a great position here.

Yea, I am not sure why several folks are freakin a bit here. We just get fewer ping pong balls at 6th than 4th but that doesn't mean we won't end up with a top five pick necessarily. Shoot, Boston may end up with the first overall pick or the ninth for all we know because of the randomness in the selection process.

As a friend of mine has a habit of saying. Don't get your jimmies in a bind just yet. The next step happens soon and then we will know exactly where we pick because we also have the chance to get the first overall pick as well as the ninth. It is just that that chance will be less of one.

I'm confident Silver will make up for the CP3 debacle and the Lakers will end up with a pick better than their lottery position.

If that happens, it'll be awesome to hear the conspiracy theorists whine!!

You know, I don't know if you guys got mixed up like me as well, but for as long as the lottery has been around, I just RECENTLY found out that the lottery is only for the TOP 3 teams. Meaning the only way we can move is if we land a top 3 pick. If we get anything lower, we go back to our spot that we were when the season ended. As you guys have said however, there have been alot of strange things to happen in the lottery...

You got that wrong. If the Lakers dont get in the top 3 then yes they go back to 6th, But if a team or 2 behind them in the draft gets in the top 3 then they can fall to 8th, but no lower than 8th.

Statistically if the Lakers don't get a top 3 pick they will have the 6th or 7th. If you do the espn mock draft lottery game you will see the Lakers will be 6th 50% the time, 7th 42.5% of the time and 7.5% of the time a top 3. Those are statistically accurate numbers.

So, its most probable they get some lame ass. By that I mean not Exum, Wiggins, or Parker.

I'm starting to think if they indeed miss out on parker, wiggins and exum. maybe they should trade pick...maybe trade down. for multiple later in 1st round picks. theres a lot of mid to late round talent. i like that early kid from witchita st. theres bound to be a few bust in that top 10. who will be this years anthony bennett, cody zeller, otto porter type draft pick. still more time for those picks to pan out but looks to be headed that direction. lakers can't afford to miss on this

It's weird. If the Lakers end up at 6, they can move up to spots 1 through 3 but not 4 or 5. They can also drop below 6. I don't understand the logic of not being able to move up to spots 4 or 5.

Parker is supposed to make his decision today. If he stays in college, that 6th slot might not be all that great.

It's because the lottery is only for the Top 3 spots. Once the drawing is complete, the rest of the draft slots are determined by record. They can't move up because if a team above them wins the lottery, no positions change. If any team below them wins it, they (and everyone else) gets bumped down a slot.

So they only draw for the top 3 spots? I thought they drew for them all which is why I guess I was confused.

I can't remember the last time I watched the draft lottery. Haven't needed to as a Lakers fan!!

So, we are basically fucked if we don't move up. The 6th spot doesn't seem all that great. Maybe GMs will be scared off by Exum's love of LA and he'll be available.
