ticket sales must be completely in the shitter ... drastic

@mattsekeres: @BCLions announce "guaranteed win" vs @sskroughriders Sunday. If Leos lose, free tickets for tix holders.

I don't know, maybe the Leos just don't want to see a bunch of green at BC Place and want Lions fans to be loud and proud?

/I'm sure there will be plenty of Riders fans at the game, I'm thinking total attendance likely close to 40,000 for the game.

well ticket sales have been in the shitter (in relation to previous years for them) ... have they gotten over 28k yet this season? ... brutal look on tv with the entire upper bowl vacant

they WERE expecting 40K for this game ... probably were no where near that number today and are offering the guaranteed win to get there ... like i says ... drastic! (not Argonaut dire but not good for this market)

I was at the Lions - Als game earlier this season (it ended BC 41, Montreal 5) and I think the attendance was around 21,000 or so. I think attendance league wide will likely start picking up after Labour Day, but there haven't been too many exciting games this season. Lots of theories as to why that is (too many young QBs, defences dominating, refs are too flag happy).

from a Lions fan perspective ... its too expensive for the product ... I think i heard Lions ticket sales to date down 14% from last year ... walk ups arent happening like they used to ... i went to the Bombers game which was an absolute dog (free tickets thank god!)

people still watching on tv though ... over 860k viewers for Argos/Lions on a Sunday afternoon was the most viewed sports event in canada last week

I've heard the bolded as a main refrain for Stamps fans at McMahon Stadium as well (although they really do need a new stadium in Calgary). That said, last I looked, I think the Stamps are averaging over 28,000 per home game and they still have Edmonton, BC, and the Riders as future home games.

so lions attendance is up over last year to this point? maybe I misheard (or misremembered - thanks roger!)

could be only the walk up is in the toilet and season tickets are up (thanks to people wanting to get grey cup tickets) :noidea:

A friend here at work has Lions tickets and will be selling his Grey Cup tickets to me if the Lions are not in the big game.

/Go Stamps Go! :D

Great play for the Eskimos on that turnover 24-7 2nd quarter. Man that was a fun play

Attendance at today's game was 33,196 (well short of the 40,000 I thought it would be).

lol - Nice to see Cornish back in the field yesterday (with the tinted visor). I wonder if bright lights are causing him issues and if it will be a permanent change going forward.
