Tsonga has looked flat on his rallies during the 1st set, not really controlling them well.

After the point is over, Tsonga picks up a ball and smashes it into the stands, in frustration.

On Tsonga's 1st break point of the match, he returns a 89 mph FED 2nd serve, into the net.

FED and Tsonga had 1 double fault each.

I wonder if there's been a match in which a player had 0 double faults. Or both players had 0 double faults.

I can't recall them.

Jim Courier: I have a fan question, it's a bizarre one, but here it is.

Why are you wearing two socks?

FED: Are you checking me out?

Federer is wearing two socks on each foot, one over the other.

He says it's for more cushion.

When asked when the last good match win at a major over a top player Federer had, he reflected and mentioned his FO win over Simon last year as one of them. Said even though he had a 2 sets to 0 lead and Simon came back to force a 5th, said it was a good match played that played into the night.

I agree, the Simon match was pretty good.

I used to do this back in the day when tennis shoes were not very good. I even wore those thick dickie socks for a while in the winter indoors.

These days tennis shoes are light years ahead of where they were even 5 years or so ago. I do sometimes add a little more cushioned insole, but I dont feel the need for 2 pairs of socks anymore. Of course I only play 2 days a week for 2 hours each. That being said I know several club pros that still do it. I guess if you are running 8 hours a day it makes sense to protect your feet.

Kei played well. Even though it was a straight set win for Rafa, this was a tough straight win. I can even make the case that a 6-2, 6-2, 6-7, and 6-3 win is easier than what Rafa dealth with last night

Li Na is easily into the SF but this match to see her opponent is looks like a 3 set match.

Ana took the first set 7-5 but Ana is down a break right now in the second

wish they would've put the men's quarterfinal matches 1st and 2nd instead of these ZZZZZZZZ women's matches. i'm sure the semis between the girls will be good, but these QF are grotesque.

Aga wins the first set over Vika big. Not sure why Vika is so lifeless out there. She got rolled in that first set.

Vika has always been a slow starter even though she looks completely out of sorts here.

Vika is out. The womens field is wide open. Na, Cibulkova, Bouchard, and Radwanska. Na would love to win this being closest to home. Flip a coin though.
