He's considered a good skater who plays with an EDGE. Likes the rough stuff.

I wasn't sure where to put this. I guess I'll put it here.

Nino Niederreiter was asked by the Islanders to attend prospect camp. Nino has told the organization, NO.

I imagine Nino might not be an Islander come training camp.

The Devils could certainly use some young talent on the wings, and the Isles could certainly use some young talent on D...

With Nino Niederreiter if I were the Isle's I would sell high while you still can?

Interesting little thing about him, out of that whole draft class he is the lowest scoring (G+A) player (including D and Goalies) who have played at least 25 NHL games. Goal wise he is tied with Granlund, guess it doesn't help who he played with for 55 games that one season.

He had 28 goals in the AHL this year & played very well for Switzerland at the World Championships. He's got the potential to be a 1st line power forward. Some team is going to get a very talented young player. As to what the Isles will get? I have no idea.

Since the Flames already have Baertschi and Wotherspoon, they might as well nab Nino from the Isles and select Nic Petan with the 28th pick in the first round.

Pulled this from Hockeybuzz from the biggest troll blogger that exists at that site:

Ales Hemsky...there is a deal for him: The New York Islanders. The player coming back is Nino Niederreiter. This sounds like a win for the Oilers, but you need to read the fine print. Hemsky is a proven player and he'd be a dynamite RW for John Tavares. While Niederreiter has all the makings of a Top 6 forward, his attitude is troubling. He clearly wants out of the Islanders organization. Keep in mind Gilbert Brule was a future star once, and look how that turned out.

Karri Ramo (best goalie in the KHL*) or Reto Berra (best goalie in the Swiss league).

*After Bob left

Also-on WHAT planet was Brule a "future star"?

Yup... Because the Oilers sure need another young, inexperienced forward. Seems legit to me. :L:L

I thought the Islanders only required their prospects to attend the prospect camp three times like most teams do. After that attendance was optional. Nino was there in '10, '11, and '12. Is it possible that the Islanders offered him a chance to attend and he simply turned it down? After a full AHL season and the WC tourney I could see why he would choose to skip it. I think this might be a case of something that's being made out to be more than it actually is.

I want to make myself very clear about Ales (The Floater) Hemsky. If Garth were to make this ridiculous trade I would no longer be an Isles fan. I would possibly stop watching hockey all together. Fortunately Garth isn't Milpuke. He's not going to trade a top prospect for an inconsistant player making 5M entering the final year of his contract.
